I got pulled over the other night while driving my black 430 at 10:00pm. i was traveling at 45mph on a dark road with a posted speed of 35mph. just before the policeman flagged me down, my blackberry fell onto the floor in front of my seat. as i bent over to pick it up, my vehicle momentarily crossed over the center line of the road. the rather youthful policeman informed me that he had pulled me over for both offenses. after checking my license, registration, proof of insurance, and determining that i had a clean record, he asked if had been drinking. i told him (truthfully) that i was returning home from a restaurant and that i had coffee, no alcohol. furthermore, i told him the car was new and that i was not "used to it". the cop simply let me go with a "warning". this is the first time i was caught speeding in my 430 and wondered if others have been treated with "special consideration"?

The only time I was stopped in 26,000 smiles, I got two tickets. One was for not having a front plate and the second was for a clear cover over the rear plate.
    I got SPECIAL treatment alright!

I have been driving for over 35 years. My FIRST ticket ever, was at almost twice the speed limit in a 250 Californina Spider. What a way to go!
    I got the ticket.

We've found around here the cops are slightly intimidated by F cars. The reason is I suspect is you're a successful person that may have some influence and know people. Not unless you're doing something really stupid they'll back off.

Are you not allowed a clear cover over your license plate in NY? First time I hear of something like that, almost every car up here has it because it's easier to clean after a snowfall.

It is because there are covers that block photographs by the traffic light cameras.

I was *trailering* my 430 to the track. It didn't have a license plate on it, but who cares, it was being trailered. I saw a cop at the 680 (benicia?) bridge approach and immediately checked my speed -- 5mph over. whew, i'm good. Didn't see any activity as I went by. But after I paid the toll, he turned on his lights right behind me and I pulled over just ahead. A real stinky spot, BTW, some sewage runoff area or something.

He asked if I had the paperwork for the "lamborghini" which got me mildly upset. "You mean the Ferrari?" After he verified everything (had to call it in), he said he was disappointed ... not every day you can catch a stolen ferrari. He was a nice guy and the whole stop was nice. While my first thought was to challenge him, I just decided that was a bad idea and instead looked at it as, if my Ferrari were stolen by tow truck / flatbed and got recovered from an alert cop like this guy, wow I would be happy. He held traffic for me as I pulled out of the shoulder lane.

Wish I had thought to get pictures of it at the time.

Same restriction here in Oregon. I think they claim that over time as the clear begins to fog that it obstructs view of the plate (or some other similarly BS reason).

Interactions with law enforcement while driving F cars comes up quite often. Every jurisdiction from state, county or town are comprised of different laws, ordinances, department rules & regulations as different and unique as the officers themselves. To some civilians it appears that all agencies are similar, that is very inaccurate!! No officer, worth his salt, would back off any situation because it is a F car. One thread stated, officers maybe intimidated perhaps by the influence an F car driver may possess. If anything, in my opinion, it may create the opposite effect. When encountered by law enforcement, I suggest you be polite, truthful and don't argue. Most troopers have heard it all and are not impressed with your stories.
    Don't assume anything.....

    I thought that was a myth? :):)

We have them here and I have had friends that have been caught by red light cameras and speeding cameras while their cars have had those plastic covers over the plates? :):)

It is not the standard plastic covers but special covers designed for that purpose.

Some don't need to be jealous, because we have a F-car of our own. A very childish statement, just owning an F-car doesn't make you the envy of everyone in town Joe!!

Boy you got me there. I envy you. Read my words (some don't need to be). Your statement sounded something like a spoiled little child would say. Sorry it hurts your feelings but it was childish on every level.

I'm not sure what to think yet. I have a friend with a red Viper and he has been pulled over after being caught speeding and was given a warning. He felt the cop gave him special treatment.

When I bought my red 308 last year I had it a little over a week. I was driving home after picking my daughter up from school, at the end of a long line of cars, doing 55 in a 55 zone when a police cruiser past me going the other way. He was quick to turn around and come back and pull me over. He told me that he'd seen me driving around the last few months with out of state plates (I'm in California, car was from Arizona). I told him I just bought the car a week or so earlier and he was very upset. I showed him all the documents and the bill of sale and the date. Obviously he let me go, but was very rude about it.

I have since wondered if F-Car owners take it on the chin for owning these cars.

You are all doing it wrong. The first rule is to bury the throttle, and go. Never been caught yet. But then again my yugo only goes 45 mph!

I was caught 1 year ago. Police followed me about 15 minutes in civil car with installed speed radar. I did not know this, they told me later.... I always keep speed limits in cities, however i dont care too much about country roads or higways especially if there is free space in front of me and good view. So they followed me few km`s in city where i kept speed around 50km/hour which is limit. But after we left city, i pushed throttle and disapeared them with fast acceleration and final speed about 220km/hour. Shame was that i was showing car to my friend who was sitting as passenger (for this reason i was little bit wilder than ussualy) , so we stopped few times trying fast starts. Due to the stops, police get in contact with us again and they followed me about another 5 kms driving 160 km/hour on nice small country road with speed limit 90km. I was joking with my friend " that blue car behind us wants to battle... :) " Unfortunately they did not fight with us, they were making pictures. After that blue car followed me to my neighbourhood, i started to think its not just normal car.... It was too late, lights with "police" went on in front of my house. Till today my neighbours make jokes about this. I got about 20 pictures with lowest speed 120 km (on 90km speed limit). I was in trouble, almost lost my license.......

It was pure plan from the police to catch me from begining. They were just waiting till i push throttle. They were very strict, however they were also laughing telling me that after we left city, they were not able to catch me or even make clear picture.

From that day, i watching all car behind me :)

what do you mean by "special consideration?" <-- sounds like he pulled you over out of boredom and not because you actually did anything wrong..

3 months after I bought my Ferrari in 2005, I trucked it 600 miles to nearest 'big city' Townsville, to visit some friends and have some fun. :):)

The 1st night I was there, I was cruising around the local car strip taking some mates for a drive. I saw a Police car, who did a SHARP u-turn and chased me with lights and siren blazing. :):)

I pulled over and stayed in the Ferrari while two Policeman walked up to me. They asked me for my drivers licence and then they both walked around my car 5 times each, then he handed my licence back to me and told me to have a good night. :D:D

They obviously wanted to look at my Ferrari, because that is all they did. :p:p
