If I organized a 348/355 challenge race once a year how many out there could bring a car? I live in New Orleans and we have a 1.8 mile track here. My friends also put on the French Quarter Classic which should be back next year. Curious as to the feedback I might get here. Perhaps you can submit or PM a direct email address so I can compile a list of those interested.

    Kind Regards,
    Christopher

8 hour drive and NPR isn't the best track in our area, but it would be nice to get a good number of Challenge cars together. We had 3 355 C's at the new Eagles Canyon Raceway outside Ft. Worth racing last month.

Probably true but my thought was to wrap it into our French Quarter Classic... but thats why I asked just to gauge opinion.

    Is FQC coming back?

They did that race last FQC, but I had a conflict that weekend.

I took my 355C to last year's FQC race, and would probably come again, if the weekend didn't conflict with another race. I would say to try to commit to a date as early as possible, so people can plan.
Similarly, I am taking my 355C to MSR Houston for the Nov22 (?) charity race.

How many 348/355/360 Challenge cars are out there actually being used for DE's, NASA, or SCCA racing?

I think one race a year is not enough and would like to see more of the cars out there - I'd think that the NASA Ferrari Challenge is a good start in getting the cars out there together - hopefully there will be more next season.

Mark, How did you do in Italy?

Collectively, with 348s, 355s and 360s, there are a fair amount of retired Challenge cars out there. The real "challenge" is getting people motivated and organized to get them out and race them.

Italy has been great, the car looks just like it did at the beginning, which is nice. Scott Tucker won the two US points races and was the top American in the Sunday World Final. I was 5th American in R1 after blowing a tire, and 2nd in R2, then I was the 2nd American at the World Final. The run groups here are very confusing, but we were on track all week with the "Trofeo Pirelli" guys, and they are incredibly fast! Especially at Mugello, it is just astonishing how quick these guys are. Some of it may be the cars, but their drivers are on another planet. Very humbling indeed.....

Guys, we can do this. However, I don't know about race, but then again, it could be gentlemanly, like the Historics.

Here is a suggestion, the venue needs to be the FCA National meet. Here is a primer. The SE is up for consideration in 2011. I just ran the Hutchinson Island track in Savannah GA. It was awesome, fast, banked, concrete, and has incredible amenities. The city, golf course, awesome hotel, and spa. This is where it could happen, and I will work hard to make honoring the Challenge Series, and Challenge cars part of the package. That is my vision....

By the way, Challeng cars have a way of showing up at the FCA meets.

For the record these videos do not even come close to showing what a great venue this is.

We need to schedule a race out a a good track and just do it. Open to all challenge cars 355/348/360.

FQC will not be in 09. 2010, yes.

So, let's pick a good safe track, no touching, gentlemen style racing/tracking. No one taking it too serious just all of us on the track. Three classes of cars (with cars getting bumped in class if they have too many mods.). Just 10 cars would make a fin race, fifteen fantastic and 20 amazing.

We should attach it an existing event already being organized. One is the Celebration Exotic car festival. It will have a Sebring track event.

Cavillino may be too close and too hard to do on such short notice.

Maranello madeness a year from now. The new moroso is great.

Florida region just had an event at Daytona and it was great.

We could do NASA Nationals at Miller, they have a crew that does VERY professional web productions of the entire race. We would be racing in ST1 and ST2, so up against other makes, but we could have our own Ferrari trophy.

    August - 1-2 - TWS(CW) (College Station, TX)
