There used to be a time when I could watch speed for hours without losing interest whether it was WRC, LeMans, F1 or even BJ Auctions. When I got married and had a place of my own, the first thing I did was order the Speed Channel. But it has become too much for me to handle. With Pinks, Wrecked, Low Life, Unique Whips and the never ending NASCAR programming, the only time I ever watched was for F1 races and a few minutes of BJ auctions.
I have decided to let my wallet do the talking, and with the end of the F1 season has come the end of my Speed subscription. It was fun for a while, but I long for the carefree days of Speedvision.
Thank you for letting me vent.

I've been watching the races a day or two after with a friend who Tivo's them. Obviously he still has Speed. But, for the past year and a half I've been curtailing my overall TV viewing and simply watching programs on line. I'd had a 24" Imac and if I'd missed LOST, Prison Break or any other program I just go to the ABC or Fox site and watch it when I want to.

I suspect that F1 will be the same fairly soon. I know you can watch highlights of the race on the F1 site and I also believe race itself a few days later. I'm not sure of the quality of the F1 site's video but I'm sure if it's not in HD is soon will be.

If you want to know how good it is just go to a Mac store and log on to watch your favorite program in the large screen format on one of the Imacs. It's pretty awesome. They've also got a converter to stream directly to your TV if you want that. :)

    It's a really great option.

speed is a joke and has been ever since fox bought them and they lost the original speedvision name. download the F1 and MotoGP races the coverage is usually better plus you can watch the races on your own schedule. The best part is not giving any money to fox, the crummiest network on earth.

    It's win win!

I think what really sucks is when I am on vacation I usually only have a laptop and a wifi connection yet I can't watch the race live. I'd pay of a subscription where I could get the F1 races and WRC on the web realtime. Any help there? I don't think so....

A concept with Barrett-Jackson Auctions ? What were you thinking 'BJ Auctions' was ?? ;)

Cox put Speed Channel on an upper-tier digital band, and I won't pay extra for it.
I lost SC 3 years ago, have not missed it.

It's not worth paying Cox extra just to watch BJ auctions!

Sony makes a unit that lets you watch your home TV anywhere in the world via a high speed internet connection. I looked at it a couple of years ago but wasn't interested enough to pursue it.

Sorry you guys don't like Speed. IMO they do a pretty good job of covering a wide range of motoring programs. I don't like everything they broadcast, but that goes for every network except MSNBC respecting which I like nothing they broadcast.

I must agree, Speed channel has flushed its quality down the toilet. I used to enjoy the WRC and F1 at a time when I was awake, sports car races, etc. Now, it is either macho drag racing crap or NASCAR or talkie shows. I would rather watch my omelet cook.

The bandwidth of the internet is overtaking the conventional TV channels. Pay-per-download and pay-per-stream are likely the wave of the future. (Despite the inertia of the copyright lawyers.)

How many people have gone from conventional phone service to net phones (with cell phone backup)?

The cable and phone companies are just fighting to see who's going to get the fiber to the curb utility.

Me too! I cancelled about a month ago for your same reasons. Saved about $325 per year. Unfortunately, I missed the last MotoGP, WSBK and F1 race, but what the heck.

I think there would be enough of an audience for a second channel.

Speed Redneck = Pinks, Wrecked, Low Life, Unique Whips and the never ending NASCAR programming

Speed Euro = F1, Barret Jackson, WRC, LeMans, and maybe even the UK version of Top Gear :)

I agree 100%. The current speed programs are pretty stupid and seemed geared to an audience that I suspect doesn't even own a TV.

Doesn't exist, I meant they should split the content onto a newly created channel.

They should divide it into two programs : Speed-Racer for those who want to see: F-1, MotoGP, Aussie V-8's, Runoff's, LeMans, ALms..... etc..
    and
    Speed-Hillbilly for those who want: Wreck'd, Unique-Whips, anything Nascrap, Barrett-Jackson & Pinks....etc.
