Some Remarkable 275GTB's

I have some pictures of different 275 GTB's. Maybe other FChat members can tell me if my data are correct.

First 2 photographs show chassisnr 9065 - rebodied by Richard Straman

Third (chassisnr 6941) is RHD and participated in the Cannonball Run (seems a clone of 6885) - who did the rebody?

Fourth has some strange treatment of headlights and foglights. Does anyone know the serial nr?

Why would someone take a beautiful stock design and change it?

 

What is remarkable here is the destruction of one of the most classic car design of all time... Pathetic...

 

6941 once belonged to Tom Walduck. I think the car spent time in South Africa and the conversion might have been done there. Mark Shannon might know more.

 

The bottom one looks like someone was inspired by their bugeye Sprite!

 

The one on the bottom right with Swiss dealer plates was owned in the 1970s/1980s by scrapyard owner Pierre De Siebenthal of Lausanne, Switzerland (now deceased).

06941 was re-nosed in England, photo is from Gumball (not Cannonball), owned by Kevin Stanford (who got it thru Jeff Fosker) who is/was married to Karen Millen of women's clothes shop fame, they are listed in the Sunday Times Rich List. Note license plate "KS".

09065 is now owned by Mario Stafilopatis in Greece.

I visited Siebenthal's location in Switzerland about a quarter of a century ago. That 275 with the inset lights was inside, would be curious to know its racing history. There were dozens of cars including a Monteverdi 375, Miura, Montreal, Pantera, Mangusta. Most cars were in one peice and fairly intact, though rough but on flat tires covered with dust and there were guard tog turds everywhere.
The only nice car was a 250GT PF cab, silver being restored.

Don't have the indoor photos but here is one from outside the building: Islero, 365GTC/4, 365GT 2 +2...a sad sight.

Over the years De Siebenthal had three different scrapyards in and around Lausanne (Lake Geneva). I visited the first one back in 1977. The Series II 250 GT Cabriolet was #1753 GT. The darkblue 365 GTC/4 which can be seen in the back of your photo is S/N 15413. I have plenty of photos from those years. De Siebenthal later moved to Goumoens-la-Ville. See also my article about the De Siebenthal scrapyard in the Ferrari Owners Club UK magazine (published early 1980s). It has a list of the cars I saw there.

Thanks for the info Marcel. Yes the one I visited was some ways north of lake Geneva halfway to Yverdon, probably that Gomouens la ville location.
There was a Siebentahl racing at Le Mans Classic in a 911, is that Pierre's son?

Goumoens-la-Ville is a little village near Echallens. That was his 3rd and last scrapyard. He had been forced to move several times.
Don't know about family members.

Yes I do. The car that Walduck owned was 07699, currently for sale at DK Eng.

06941 was also an early long nose conversion. It is know to have been done before January 1969. I got it from long term owners, the Nichols family in 1998 and Jeff Fosker sold it to Stanford. Pictures of the car then can be seen in the 'sold' section of my website, www.markshannon.net.

The front of the nose was done by Shane Willis, http://www.prestige-restoration.co.uk/index.htm - look it the gallery section, via The Foskers. Apart from the nose the car retains fairly normal shortnose bodywork. The rear bumper has been deleted, the rear arches are slightly flared, there are extra vents and it now has an outside filler. See below.

Hello Stratos: it was really nice to have lunch with you in Geneva last year, hope the beast is behaving as you want it: I fondly recall the day I drove it to Moroso and the Breakers hotel in Palm Beach: they certainly had NEVER seen a Stratos there before!

Hi folks.

I was at the Siebenthal scrapyard too and am desperatly trying to find the slides. There were at least 3 or 4 330 gts and 3 or 4 250 gt's as well but the shock was the 166/212 Touring Berlinetta that was in the scrapyard with flowers growing through the floor. I was only 16 and spent my summer holidays with my friend "serenissima". There was a Maserati 3500 GT and a Sebring I wanted to buy for the equivalant of 500 euros today. maybe 2000 euros today??. I called my grandma and wanted to borrow money but who thinks a 16 year old knows what he is doing... The Drogo 250 GT was there also and in the restoration shop a Bugatti Atalante, AC Cobra. But at least 15 scrapped Ferraris and 5-6 Masers were there.. Which Touring BERLINETTA was it+ Anybody know?.. I HAVE the slides somewhere.. Afterwards we did Felber in Neuchatel and Giordanego in Cuneo and the Reinpfelden museum....

It was a 166 MM Berlinetta Touring Le Mans #0048 M. Long gone. Now in Germany.
The Drogo 250 GT was 3405 GT.
