Regarding the underwhelming performances by LSU this season (I'm an outsider, hence why I ask this), how much of it can be contributed to the exit of Perrilloux?

I anticipated it to be a an LSU/Florida battle for the SEC crown. I had 'Bama no where on my radar, to be quite honest. And I'm not usually akin to totally missing on a potential powerhouse; I mean their last season late-fade & unhinging had me thinking they were AT LEAST 2 season away from contention. . .
    Very well said, my friend!
I personally think that's more of a reflection of the school/program than the conference. He raised the bar so damn high (especially in the '90s) that it was virtually impossible to relive those days w/ the same outcomes & successes.

His tenure there is beyond impressive. It's nuts how some boosters and/or in-house consultants can make a stink regarding a down season or two ('08 & '05). The guy should is a Tennessee football guru, and a lifelong Volunteer. I'm stunned, but more-so disgusted. . .

Regarding Spurrier landing anywhere and reliving his Gainesville Fun n' Gun days, I'm pessimistic towards such, unless he ends up in a loaded/fertile program (ala' Urban Meyer w/ Zooker's men, Les Miles w/ Saban's men, etc'). I'm not sure about Tennessee's (as a state, not the univ') current in-state talent & regional clout in recruiting, so I can't comment too much in terms of their potential w/ a disrupted recruiting class if Fulmer exits. Though, the Volunteer state does have three urban-centers which produce decent talent. Then again, comparing TN to SC is beyond words as the former is a full-fledge highly heralded/established program whereas SC is still rather in it's infancy in terms of any progression towards a tradition and/or presence as a force. . .

Agreed, but Fulmer knew this going in. What's really scary is how good his record was in the early years if you factored out Spurrier (as in 'You can't spell Citrus Bowl without UT'. Having said that (and living with where Auburn is today), expectations are exponentially high in this conference. If you do not produce, do not be surprised by the outcome.

Would you say that the heat on Tuberville would've been slightly less & there would be more patience w/ him IF 'Bama & Saban weren't so dominant & successful this season, well at least up to now...(?)

I'm thinkin' if the 'Tide were in the SEC cellar this season, Auburn's mediocrity wouldn't be so scrutinized in-house. Again, I'm an out-sider, so hence why I ask you peeps' who are in the 'mix, so to speak.

I don't think the heat on Tuberville is really about Alabama's season. It's more about our inability to win games that we have had no business losing since the 2005 Sugar Bowl. The undefeated season following the administration's unsuccessful coup attempt built up an awful lot of pro-Tuberville sentiment. Unfortunately he seems to have steadily erroded that with unacceptable losses and throwing coaches under the bus. While I love what he's done with respect to off the field stuff (especially with Chet Williams), its tough to watch what's happened to the program on the field in the past 4 years. It might just be time for a change.

I don't think the overall record or the national title is what caused him to leave.
I think the current season at 3-6 is what did it.
A similar situation occured at Miami with Larry Coker.
He was 60-15 overall with a national championship (which is a higher winning percentage than Fulmer), and he was let go. So does that make the ACC the best?
I don't think so, but you may be right!

Agreed - was just trying to stir the pot with the non-SEC folks here. Like Osiris_x11 indicated, its a program specific issue based on where the program has been and where it appears to be headed. If it wasn't, Ole Miss and Vandy would turn their coaches over much more frequently.

As a Gator I will be sad to see him go. We dominated Tennessee during his tenure and generally won big against them. He was with one program for 35+ years and while I understand the university's decision to move on it is sad to see them take this stance with somebody who has been around that long.

Tough call but the question that had to be answered by Mike Hamilton was, "Is the program headed in the right direction". We've slipped far from the elite or even 2nd-tier elite for the conference.

Are people in Death Valley still bitter about Saban's departure? IMHO, Les Miles has done a diggity job. . .

Please, LSU is a different team this year. It might be a win but it won't be big....

If you knock off the number 1 team it is big.

I do think the Alabama-LSU game will be the game for both teams this season, either way it goes. Everyone always plays above when you have a chance to knock off #1, and LSU is quite capable, and it will be a real test of Alabama's discipline and focus.
I think perhaps this weeks' caveat is "Remember Texas".

    ^ Yup.

LSU is capable of winning a close one. but I think Alabama is also very capable of routing them like UGA and FL did.
Should be a good one as a Bama fan, I'm hoping. Roll Tide.

    Penn State Exposed!!!!

    I LOVE IT!!!!

I think Michigan St. can beat them too.

They need to go back to #25 where they belong. No business in the top 10 if you can't beat unranked teams.

Saying that a team has been exposed has nothing to do with being classy or not classy.. Bottom line - PSU lost, and the people saying they don't deserve to be where they are - are now proven to be correct. It hurts, but that's the way it is.

Roll Tide, exciting game. Bama played about their worst game, and LSU played close to their best as I figured they would. But Bama pulled out the win in OT. Woot! #1 baby!
