I've already got a few PM's about the display cabinet so I'll just post the info here. (Actually it is a repost on this thread because some one used it a few month back). Anyways, the display is actually a cheap Ikea cabinet the retails $159 in Canada. It's called the Bertby and is used for DVD storage. It's a great unit for scale model car displays. Best bang for your buck and once it's filled with Ferrari models it looks amazing!

LOL, I was about to post this! We use them in the waiting area to display some of the models we sell here in the shop! Great cabinet!

Mine kinda sucks. I have no ceiling room for a lift. How easy would it be to raise the ceiling? I will add another vehicle very soon.

Very nice! I am looking for a Camaro SS or Yenko - cannot decide. Never had a classic muscle car, but I am thinking....

We tuned a couple of cars for Foose recently and I am starting to like them more and more.

It looks like maybe the left side of the garage would have a higher bearing height for the trusses, and the ceiling in the garage may be furred our framed down to match the right side. If that is the case the demolition of the superfluous framing could be removed and the ceilignnraised accordingly. You could probably et an engineer or architect locally to look at it and know in 5 minutes. If you go up in the attic and look you might be able to tell. If the trusses have a continuous bottom chord that matches the right side of the garage with a stepped up heel at the exterior wall it would be difficult to move the ceiling.

Or it might be simpler to go down rather than up

I've tossed the idea around of building a new garage if it comes to that. I do not know how the home-owner's association will respond to this, however. Probably not well. :(

    What happens when it rains?

Cool idea but I would think building a garage would be more cost effective and probably safer for your toys. :)

here are a few shots of my garage . bought the house in 1975. it started as a carport , i can park three abreast but they can't be too wide. at some point i excavated into the back , allowing for three more in front. the back wall is concrete up to the roof , as it went into a hillside . later i excavated a second garage to the left , it also went into a bank so the walls are cement to the roof as well. wanted to avoid any posts so the roof beams are fairly big to make the span. not much height inside since the original carport was not very high. my only regret is not making it bigger but we wanted to keep a back yard ! dan z.
