I have been pulled over several times and I am always polite and courteous. I was in my Gallardo and pulled over by Maryland state police (they are notorious for not giving breaks). The cop asked if I knew why he pulled me over and I said yes I was speeding. He did not give me a ticket for speeding but gave me 1 for not having a front plate. 60 bucks and no points so no complaint from me. I also was pulled over by a charles county MD cop for speeding when I had my 348. The cop saw my radar detector and asked me why I didnt slow down and I told him that I forgot to plug it in. We laughed, he told me to watch my speed and have a nice day. I was told along time ago to do the following when pulled over: Roll down both windows Turn off the car Keep both hands on the steering wheel And be polite, I acknowledge the oficers rank A traffic stop is one of the most dangerous things that a police officer does. Some of you guys may agree or disagree but this has always worked for me.
i suppose being a LEO is like every other job in the world you get your good and bad eggs ............
It's not the cops. It's not the cops. It's not the cops. It's not the cops. It's not the cops. etc. It's the idiots who run the country, and who've assigned cops to sit by the road all day writing tickets. I find it pretty amazing that I can punch in 3 numbers on my phone and guys willing to risk their lives to help me will show up in minutes. So .... It's not the cops.
Very true...while normally pro law-enforcement, when I read this I wondered "where is Sarah Palin when you guys needed her most?" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27658642/ The story is that the Sheriff of Los Angeles county had to crack down on deputies carrying their weapons while drinking. It seems that 12 complaints have been made of waving guns or wild shooting while drunk, and that in just the past year, 60 drinking offenses have been charged against LA county deputies...mostly DUI, but some gun charges as well. Naturally, the deputy's Union strongly opposes the order - argument was that criminals might surmise that they were disarmed at times. To which the obvious counter might be made - what prevented said criminals from surmising that they were DRUNK at times? Unbelievable - but putting it into context, probably no worse than a group of ordinary citizens allowed to get beered up while carrying.
The only time I have encounter a police officer in my 308 was when I broke down on Rte.78 in NJ. It was only a broken belt, and as I was far enough off the road, I was able to repair it on site. Not 1, not 2, but 3 different state police cars stopped while I was doing the repair. Each time I told them I would be able to get going in a few minutes, as they all offered to call for a tow. The third officer blocked in my car and kept his lights on while I finished. Once I was done, we talked for a few minutes about the car, he wished me well and I was on my way. I have nothing but respect, and have been very courteous any time I was pulled over, for police officers until they act as if they are better than me. Fortunately, I haven't had any that showed that attitude.
I know I shouldn't post this because I have tried to just give up on people who are just h__ bent on blaming LE for everything bad that has ever happened to them. However, this one I just can't pass up. Please tell me that I simply am not aware of a ferrari 924 because if you are claiming that officers pick on you when you are driving a porsche 924 I am going to need oxygen. I can roll a bowling ball down a hill faster than a 924 VWPORSCHE. Please tell me that you are being harassed in a 924 something that I have never heard of.
Did I blame them for anything the 16 men didn't do? I put nearly 30k into it, it passed it's last safety inspection a couple of years ago and is in great shape, I drive it because I like it. So you're saying it would be better to be harassed in a late model 355 than a 924? If so, why does that factor into anything? I haven't been bothered in any of my other cars ever.
Neil, I also have to ask if you have been getting pulled over for every 250 miles you drive and by your math that averages once a week for the last 6 years, then why in heaven haven't you bought a different car? I'm just concerned about you man!
Your math is faulty just like your belief that I haven't been pulled over as often as I say I have. I only average a couple of thousand of kms on the car each summer.
Because.... people get harassed in car called Ferrari more often than other cars? So that falls in line with police selecting cars to pull over instead of behavior.
It's your math read your own post!! Every 250 miles since 2002 (the weekly thing was mine). I am only giving you grief since you decided to pull an ancient quote out of mine from april. Take care man! I was serious when I said I'm trying to give up on exchanging quotes with people who simply dislike all LE.
Where did I say I dislike all law enforcement in this thread? I stated that some police officers do pull people over based on what kind of car they drive. If you have never been pulled over for no reason good for you but don't try and make it sound like it never happens. As for your math, I have maybe 7,000 kms on the car over the last 6 years, so like I said, your math is wrong most likely because your jumping to conclusions without information.
^yep, that explains it...looks "ricey" (rear wheel arches, color matched wheels, and fresh paint) to the average person...not that it is, but LE tend to do that to drivers in kitted-hondas stereotyping them as streetracers or easy targets for ticketing
agreed...i get disconcerting examinations from LEO all the time driving my POS looking old mr2 (lightweight, fantastic handling), but never in my 355...they're profiling for criminals (who drive POS cars, typically)
Next time just follow the right person and don't read anything else into my posts. If I thought I was being hounded by the police I would have already done something about it. Also you win, it looks like I won't have the 924 for much longer, it should be written off by my insurance company shortly. I hope to get the massive cheque soon, perhaps I can retire off of it.
I don't know why you would say I win because something happened to your car. As you so politely stated don't read anything into my posts. I would never be happy because someone's car was damaged or worse.
