    I got a new car.

    Came with Sirius radio.

I was riding home from work today and was checking different channels.

I stopped on OutQ which is the Gay-Les channel. I stayed long enough to hear the upcoming guest was going to discuss why expansion of gov't was needed BADLY! I thought for a minute and attributed that notion to the fact that OutQ is probably The Negative of conservative radio in every way so Bigger Gov't would by necessity be a good subject.

I tried Maxim thinking I could get some hip cultural tips and maybe work the info into conversations and threads here so that everyone would know how cool I am despite the fact that I don't have a 3 day stubble and I wear a tie. But, all i got was annoying music and self promotion of 2 talk show guys.

I them stopped at a comedy channel that was in the midst of a Richard Pryor stand-up routine. Those words must have been funny because the audience wad absolutely DYING of laughter.

Next I stopped at Cosmo, thinking I could get some inside intelligence and maybe learn how their little minds work. I was hoping to hit on a dating-psychology discussion but instead i found a serious discussion of the June-Cleaver-out-dated idea of no-open-toe-shoes-after-the-first-snow. I now know you can in-fact wear open toe shoes in the winter but ONLY with dark mid-calf tights.
This was serious conversation. I swear.

I then checked 129 and Maria told me the market was down 139 points and dropping.

Depressed I then checked the Grateful Dead channel..nothing good. Like wise the blues channel was weak.

So I rode home in silence.

Oh, one other thing Maria mentioned on channel 129...Sirius stock is trading for 25 cents a share. Wonder why?

I bought it for Howard Stern, would have bought it even if the only thing on it was Stern....... The music programming is decent in my opinion, better than trying to hunt for stations when driving across TX. I prefer the music programming on XM which my g/f has in her car, but no Stern which is why I bought it in the first place.

What kind of car you get?

Didn't XM merge with Sirius a while back? When Stern left FM radio to start his own channel & was about to subscribe, later on I found out he lost his edge. I'm glad I didn't follow though.

    '

They have merged. I have been a Stern listener since '99 and the show has definitely evolved but I wouldn't say he has lost his edge at all.

As Bruce Springsteen says, 57 channels and nothing on. (yes, I know Sirius has more than 57 channels)

For when at home on the computer, iTunes has a bunch of free radio 'channels', try those.

If you have a Sirius or XM account you can also login and listen to them on your home PC. But iTunes is free.

Truckers LOVE satellite radio, for those truckers that have not been parked by lack of business.

I have Sirius as well(for the car), the only problem with their online player is some select channels are not available over their internet.

    ~

I have abandoned local radio, too many commercials. I can't imagine driving life without sat-radio now.

I don't think I'll ever pay for my radio. I'm happy with the stations I listen to.

The rock station, other than having to play the standard songs every hour, the other music is different every hour.

Other than that the sports talk radio stations work for me.

Other than that I listen to cd's, a lot.
