Hello Everyone! I am extremely excited about our December 6th gathering. As the title suggests, we’re doing something a little different for this special month. For our December meet-n-greet, we’ll be collecting toys for the Durham Rescue Mission. Here is our chance to give the gift of generosity to some of those less fortunate. Most of the children at the Durham Rescue Mission will probably not receive a Christmas gift without our help.

As for a Christmas present, the spokesperson at Durham Rescue Mission said the guidelines are pretty open:
    • Boys & Girls ages 12 and under
    • Please make sure the gift remains unwrapped

The plan for the morning will be as follows:
    • We’ll meet @ Camille’s at our regular time of 9:00AM.
    • We’ll start lining up cars around 10:00 - 10:15 and leave the parking lot @ 10:30.
    • We will drive to the drop-off point; (currently Crosspointe Church) located at Rt55 & Carpenter Fire Station Road. If this changes, I’ll make sure the thread is updated. I’ll also bring maps for our drive.

The Durham Rescue Mission will have a truck at Crosspointe for us to load our gifts. Thank you everyone in advance for helping with this toy drive!

All...if we could get a count of who is planning to be there, that would be great. I've got feelers out with friends on the local Porsche sites to get a count as well.

    Thanks everyone!

    Just to be clear...

Is the drop off point in da hood? I can imagine a Ferrari parade through Durham causing commotion. I'll be packin' but I can't defend the rest of y'all :)

No, that is the reason we are not dropping off at the Durham Rescue Mission. We are dropping off at a Church (my Church) in a great location. Now you don't have a reason to not bring the 360!

Hello All, I am the person that sets up the S2000 meet that has been showing up. I think this is a very cool idea and I have posted our meet to also include a toy drive. I just wanted to see whom should I see when we get there to give the toys that we collect.

And please be a litte more specific then "I will be in the Ferrari". I know usually that would make it fairly easy to find you but considering the group not in this case.

    Thanks for a great idea.

Ok...I will be the one in the RED Ferrari. Just kidding. Truthfully, I will be in a red 308 with the license tag "84 QV". (my 308 below)

And, the objective for this toy drive will be for all of us to drive to the drop-off location (Crosspointe Church) and load the toys on to a truck from the Durham Rescue Mission. Can you imagine the sight of 50-100 exotic and sports cars driving on 540?...it should be pretty awesome! If there are some people who can't make the drive, we'll collect those toys at Brier Creek and find someone who has an empty passenger seat.

    - Greg

And again, I sincerely appreciate everyone who will be participating. This is such a fantastic cause!

P.S...I didn't see Marc's "RED Ferrari" comment until after I posted. I wasn't trying to be a smart azz.

Hey Greg, if you cant be a smart a$$ on the internet where can you be. I wasn't sure how it worked. I just wanted to get the S2000 crowd involved in something charitable. I didn't want to infringe on your drive, I didn't even think about that.

If you think it would be okay I will post up a drive over to the church, BUT if you guys want to do that yourselfs I (we) TOTALLY UNDERSTAND. We can just hand off the gifts and hell just the thought of a gift I gave getting a ride in a Ferrari is good enough for me.

Let me know what you want to do. What ever you guys decide is fine. I didn't post up here to make it more complicated just to get the kids some presents for X-mas.

    Thanks Greg.

Kevin, we would be thrilled to have you or anyone drive with us over to the church. At the end of the day, we are all car guys and that is why we get together to share our hobby and passion with others. Truth be told, I have a BMW 325is that I'll been looking to sell in the spring and trade-up to a S2000...just need to make sure I can get a set of golf clubs in the trunk!

Hello Greg, that sounds great. Is this the location http://atlas.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&formtype=address&popflag=1&latlongtype=internal&latitude=NUUQB11VHQCifkISufRBYA%3D%3D&longitude=68OLgW1dVQV8BYuGHtZzNg%3D%3D&name=&phone=&level=ADDRESS&cat=&address=6911+Carpenter+Fire+Station+Rd&city=Cary&state=NC&zipcode=27519-8130 .
I just want to get everyone a location and map to hand out.

As far as the S2000, yes you can fit a set of golf clubs in the car. Not a large Pro bag but a "normal" size bag will fit. If and when the time comes and you would like some things to look for in a certain model year or any other information let me know.

Yep!...that's the location. I was planning on bringing maps to hand out to everyone, but, if you want to bring some that will definitely help!

And...I will definitely take you up on your offer to help with the S2000!

Daniel...we would love to have you! I've put threads out to LotusTalk, NSXPrime, S2000, and the local Porsche groups. Should be a great turnout. We'll be meeting at Leith Pre-Owned around 8:15AM and leave there 8:30ish. I want to get to Brier Creek a little early.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Yep, same place that we met last time. Just look for all the Porsches (they have their meet every Saturday morning) then swing into the parking lot just past them on the left.

Is anyone caravaning up from the Leith dealership that morning? It is supposed to be nice out but chilly, only in the 40s.... top down weather!

Matt...we (the Ferrari group) should probably be @ Brier Creek a little earlier than normal since we are sponsoring this event. So, I say that we meet at Leith PreOwned @ 8:15, leave Leith @ 8:30. Sound like a plan?
