Guys, For those who are interested, my Daytona will be on Top Gear on the 7 December. Filming was done early September. Hammond drives it from Portofino in Italy to the South of France, racing James May in a boat. Should be a laugh!

Nice one - Daytonas were built for those roads. I trust Top Gear coughed up for the privelege !

Nope, They gave me 6 tickets for the studio filming on the Wednesday (3 Dec), AND I have to get the car to the studio myself! The reason that I lent them the car is because it all adds to the history and makes the car interesting.

Shocking ! A mere 1 hour of Clarksons salary would have covered the proper hire of your car. BBC Sharks.

Something I've wondered about, and glad you didn't have to find out,
but if , <gulp> it had an accident while they were using it, were you covered for any event?

Definitely agree on that. You could get magazine or book features after exposure like that:).

Did Hammond drive it properly I seem to recall a few crunched gears when he drove the Miura in a show a few years back.

My car was featured in Classic Car magazine two months ago. It was on the front cover, and the was few pages comparing the Daytona to the muria.

I'm not sure how he drove it, but it did come back in one piece.

Top Gear insured the car. I made it very clear to them before, the golden rule "you break it --- you mend it"

Not sure i would be so brave as to let hammy drive my car.
I will look forward to watching, i am sure it will be fantastic.
I do miss mine. [ sometime i have to get a fix, and watch, more like listen to the Daytona's on Youtube]. One day it will return, after being reborn!

You should try driving a Miura - 2nd gear tends to be challenging, the synchros are often tired and thus require double clutch on downshifts and super slow shifts going up. If its not properly hot you really can't use second at all. Requires a greater degree of mechanical sensitivity than F-cars of the same period. Other than that the Miura's a *****cat - well apart from getting in and out since its so damn low to the ground.

I also recall they (the then Stig, Perry McCarthy) didn't treat the 1953 Le Mans winning Jag C-Type too well either.
I believe Duncan Hamilton said something along the lines of 'it was driven like a stolen Metro'.
