    We just got back. It was a terrific time in Italy, really once in a lifetime stuff. Scott Tucker was the best of the Americans. There were a lot of tire issues. I blew a rear tire in Race 1 and had to make a pitstop, which cost several spots.

    As I wrote in another post, the European "Trofeo Pirelli" guys are unbelievably FAST!! Some of it may be the cars, but they are amazing.

    Big congrats.

    A question from looking at the results that Rob posted - you made a pitstop in Race 1 and finished 11.6 seconds behind car 199. Based on best laps you appear to be about 4 seconds per lap faster than car 199. So over the 20 lap race you should be about 80 seconds ahead of car 199 and you were no doubt further up the order when your tyre blew. Limping back to the pits from wherever your tyre blew, into pits, tyre change and out of pits must have cost you more than a few places???

    How are the cars different that the fast guys were driving?

    Yeah, I was very slow limping around from Turn3 with the blown right rear. Looking back, I should've hustled more on that in lap, especially through the right turns; but the tire was so bad, that I wasn't sure I was even going to make it back to the pits.

    I think the biggest difference is in the driver's seat! I'm sure the cars are better setup for Mugello, and there are some subtle tweaks that we're missing, but most of the difference is in the drivers, those guys are amazing. I'm not sure Kimi or Felipe would be that much quicker in a Challenge Car, than those front runners. They're getting 100% out of the cars.

    It would be tempting to blame it on souped up motors, but their trap speeds are no faster than ours.

    Pretty humbling. Once a year is enough......

    I shant bore you with the whole lot, but here are a few more.

    FWIW last year Bruno Senna made a one-off guest appearance for the Ferrari GB Dealer Team at Silverstone. He blew everyone away, taking pole, the win and fastest lap in both races. From the sidelines I thought several of the Americans did a damn good job to mix it in with the Europeans who know the track well. I don't know what the track's like from the driver's seat but it looked pretty tricky from the outside.

    They're just releasing the brake just a trace sooner... :D

    I think the Americans are actually faster. :D Trap speeds are the same because they are driving through the corners faster with more exit speed while the additional Euro HP catches up down the straight. ;)

    So all these hot shoe Challenge Pros, are they current road racing pros in other touring car series or just slightly over the hill X-pros? Just curious how the entire Euro Challenge Pro division works. Most real driving pros can't afford the ride themselves, so they have rich owners that hire these hot shoes out?

    How were the American lap times to the regular Euro guys?
