Most people think it improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of 'those moments.'

One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a ride in the Testarossa and talk.

Some say it's the vibration from the Ferrari others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, IPod, etc.

Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together. Eye to eye contact helps a lot too.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.

    This works with grandchildren,
    nieces, and nephews as well.

Thats all the higher those things can read with only two digits. The blur of the landscape would tend to indicate a much higher speed.

    Very funny thread.

I read an article about blowback to the "self esteem" movement that has been popular. It says that constant coddling of an entire generation of kids has resulted in arrogant, self-important, over confident children with wildly inflated expectations and feelings of entitlement. It was a serious article, but it made me laugh in much the same way that your post did. :)

    I needed a laugh. Thanks.

Coddling is a political correct crock of ****.

Self Esteem is earned. How are kids going to have any self esteem when they hit the real world and figure out the realities set before them? It'll hit like a ton of bricks. And then they'll cry.:D

Remember "The Last Lecture" Professor Randy Pausch (sp?). He talks about how bad coddling is in one of the chapters of his book.
