If the car (and the guy's exhaustive information) is real then it has to be 0409 GT.
This one is the ONLY 250 Europa GT Coupé Pinin Farina that is unaccounted for. The chassis of 0409 GT entered the Pinin Farina plant on the 2nd August 1955. Once completed, 0409 GT was delivered new through dealer Inico Bernabei of Rome to first owner Istituto Italiana Farmaceutica in Rome, Italy (Italian Institute of Pharmaceuticals). It might still be in Italy and it is possible that it has belogned to the same person/family for 43 or even more years.

    Good search

you are a good Web user.
i'm stopping to write on this chat it is becoming very very very ridicolous, and i think that nobody of you are really interesting in the car, but are just here to say some words between friends with same passion

you could not come for now to see the car, as i said, because of people are coming next week, they already book flight and i cannot say them to stop...i'm correct, above all, that you in this chat do not think about me.
    Ragrds and good luck

No replies to any other message will come from me.

P.s. Mr Massini, for you, please call me Dr. Antonio, thanks

I wish to thank everyone for the very entertaining thread; especially Mr. Massini and Dr. Antonio!

It will be fun to see how this story ends: will the car's new owner bring it to all the shows as a recently discovered 'survivor'; is this whole thing a hoax; will this issue fade into obsurity and remain a mystery?

Good luck to all parties involved and thank you again for the fun read!

    Regards,

    Art S.

PS. I love the 'Dr.' Antonio rebuttal to the 'Mr.' Massini line!

PPS. I vote this for this thread to be 'thread of the month' irrespective of the outcome!

Sorry to hear, and I was just busy preparing the next lesson: Lesson 2 Chassis numbers....
I hope I did not offend you in any matter? By the way, Lesson 3 was about coachbuilders and drum brakes. Shame but we have to move on.

Good luck with selling that car! I might have been interested but needed a little more info!
    Ciao

    Egreggio Dottore,

It appears that with your immature disposition, you have chased a good couple of potential buyers away already. At least 3 people who have shown interest in the car and are able to buy cars like these, and already posess a number of vintage Ferrari's. This world of vintage collectors is fairly small, and a name goes around the world in no time at all. If that happens in a negative way, you may as well focus on the Ritmo's (Ritmi?) and forget about cars from Maranello, because you have made yourself totally incredible as a seller.
The days that you could just put a price on a car and tell someone to buy it are over. Already for quite some time, but I think you are either too young or too dumb to remember the extraordinary times of 1989. And to make matters worse, there is somewhat of a crisis going on in the world today as well, but that may not have reached your neck of the woods. I suppose that the market for Ritmo's (Ritmi?) is still very stabile.
I pity the owner of # 0409 GT, you are doing the man a great dis-service and are putting any possible transaction pertaining this car in a very negative light.
I sincerely hope the owner to be of a clear and sound mind, and of the ability to retract any agreements entered into with you; it is very doubtful indeed that anyone will do a transaction of this magnitude through people with the likes of yourself.

I suppose there are few waters without sharks.

    Distinti saluti,

    Jack Verschuur.

I understand from Dottore Antonio that his asking price for the "mystery" Europa GT is/was Euro € 700'000.
The last 250 Europa GT sale I know of was chassis number 0405 GT (quite close to 0409 GT!!). 0405 GT was sold on the 16th August 2008 to Mr Charles R. Betz, noted Ferrarista all over the United States and Europe. Mr Betz paid a total of US Dollars $ 715'000 (NOT Euros) including buyer's premium. That was at the Gooding auction in Pebble Beach (first night). 0405 GT was fitted with engine #1585 GT at the time.

    Hi J.:
The next flight Switzerland to Brussels leaves at 4 pm today. Just let me know, paper or plastic? What do you prefer?
Or maybe you have a secret bank account here in Switzerland? Would make things even easier......
    Ciao!

Given if anything of the above is even somewhat truthful -- I propose the following to anyone living in the area in Italy about the supposed Ferrari or whom might know more about it:

    a) if you can photograph the Ferrari in question, there is a finders fee that will be paid. You have a definite list of enthusiasts from this forum (this thread in particular) who would pay for such.

    b) if you can provide contact info for the current owner (not this supposed broker) that leads to purchase thereof of this supposed Ferrari -- another fee will be paid as well.

So definitely take a look around -- you might get lucky and earn yourself a very nice holiday bonus for very little work. Now start looking and asking your neighbors and the old timers in the area about an old Ferrari from 40 years ago!

The latest paranoia from Antonio, who tries to sell the Europa:
He now asks for the chassis numbers of the cars owned by potential buyers, before he allows prospects to come and visit him. However, he refuses to reveal the chassis number of the car he is offering.............isn't it all fun?

This thread was sooooo much fun, to bad Mr (or Dottore) Antonio ended communication...

Maybe next week we'll have a "breaking new" telling the car is sold or the seller repudiates his dealer...

    Hey "Massini",
I'll be on the new york subway tonight. I'll write down the c/n's of the cars I'm on for you. That way, you'll have ten cars in your 'collection'.
    Cheers Marcel and Jim.

    Andales- wow.

Be quite serious! He could get you in an illegal way. Maybe you also may not be a buyer if you keep talking like this. Send him your alias to be illegal in his country! You are joker and could never own cars such as this!

The fact that serious customers here are getting the cold shoulder tells me that this guy either doesn't have a clue or doesn't have any car to sell. Waste of time either way.

    Jim G.,

Considering the scope of this thread I think putting forth the serial of your other Ferrari is more appropriate, in my opinion at least.

    Regards,

    Art S.

PS. My car is 7919 - it handles much better that the Europa and I'd be willing to sell it for less than 700K.

Not really.. I haven't laughed like this in quite a while. I almost wish Jim had expressed an interest because then we'd have a perfect trifeca of individuals who (by any standard of measure) are obscenely "unqualified" to own this automobile.
