I've been really looking forward to this one coming out, and tonight, tomorrow, IT'S HERE!! I'll be seeing it tomorrow evening, because the late night show combined with early morning interviews does NOT go well! So post up your thoughts on it! How did it compare with Casino Royale? Good car chases, gun battles, fight scenes? Witty dialogue? WHAT DID YOU THINK!?
i watched it last night. Casino Royale for me, was pure BS. this latest Bond movie, barely any gadgets, and the Aston only made a 2-3 min appreance, but the whole movie had plenty of fight scenes, very similiar to Bourne's Ultimatum. overall, the best Bond movie i've ever watched. and oh yea...that new Bond girl...HOT
My wife I and saw it on Nov 2nd while vacationing in Scotland. It is a good flick. I recommend that you watch Casino Royale again prior to watching this one since there are some tie-ins.
Look at it as a sequal and you will not be disappointed. Look at it as a James Bond movie and you will be disappointed. It was very fun - a real macho movie. Also for once the threat in the movie is something real and what the world is facing today.
I think you are thinking of the redhead her name is Gemma Arterton I think. Olga was pretty hot but I liked Gemma better.
Loved it. Really liked Felix Leiter, but the other dumbass CIA guy was a bit over the top. Craig is the best Bond ever. I think we will see Mr. White again.
Saw it tonight. There was a really funny scene for Canadians like me. When Bond finds Vesper's boyfriend near the end, and let's the young lady from Canadian Intelligence leave with her life, she says "Thank you" just before closing the door. Most of the theatre got a good chuckle out of this characterization of Canadians as "polite". As for the movie, I dunno. Not enough quality car chases. And what's with the DB-S losing a door and having shattered glass? Did Q-branch forget to pimp that one up with armor? The homage to Goldfinger was cool (the oil-babe).
Again!? Aw. Can't complain, though. I'll have to see this next weekend, despite hearing good & bad comments.
Good, not great. Plot was thin, action was good, stunts were great, but overall this was not nearly as good as the hype it generated. And, the shortes Bond film ever. Well under two hours. What's up with that? I dunno, I felt that Casino Royale was a 5 star classic. That Craig was a great new James bond in that. This follow up was good, but not nearly of the caliber of CR. worth $10.25? Mebbe. MY WIFE LOVED IT. Go figure. DM
I agree with DM. This one was good, but not nearly as good as Casino Royale. Plenty of action but not enough development - the opera scene was cool but could have had more to it. Maybe it's just personal preference, but I didn't enjoy Olga as a Bond girl either. No chemistry and she wasn't classy like Eva Green was. The Variety review noted that she often seemed like she wandered in from another movie. The single biggest complaint I had was that the camera and editing where all jumpy like the last two Bourne movies, which I had mixed feelings about - again here, fight scenes start, the camera has some sort of seizure and then oh, hey, fight's over. No surprise the editor and second unit director are from the Bourne series. Casino had fewer action sequences but they were more fulfilling because you could SEE what was going on.
No chemistry on the Bond girl, the villain wasn't really all that interesting, and the finale probably set back fuel cell acceptance a decade. It -was- interesting from a character development POV for the JB character. I hope they return to stories written by Ian Fleming. You know, the ones with PLOT?
My wife even asked me what I thought of the "Bond Girl" in this one. I told her that I didn't find her that attractive and it didn't seem that Bond did either. It seemed that the costume dept couldn't find any good outfits for her. Again, there was never any sequence like in Casino where 'Vesper' dresses for the poker tournament and you're like "whooooaaa."
Some thoughts on Bond: - Every one has been panning the opening song as the worst Bond theme-song ever. I tried really hard to like it, but failed. - I literally held my breath during at least two of the chase scenes. - Using an ecoterrorist as your villain is a bit of a stretch, but they did a fairly good job, I guess. - I would recommend the movie, but it's not the best of the genre. Still, if you remotely like Bond, so see it. You won't be disappointed. - DrC
****Spoiler (minor)**** After watching it last night I'm still not clear on what he was trying to do with the water... just doesn't click with me. Mind you I was sleepy and I had just watched Synedoche New York. Overall I didn't care for it too much, but I did go in with high expectations, probably hoping for another Casino Royale... As someone mentioned, the gerky camera cuts in some of the fight scenes where REALLY annoying, especially when you're sitting up real close to the screen. Didn't have the class of CR, or the plot, or girl, just doesn't really compair to it I don't think. Btw, why didnt the director of CR come back for this one? I think he would have been a much better choice.
it was alright, by far not my favorite bond, i agree with everyone else, casino royale was much better. this guy is stacking up to be my favorite bond though.
I enjoyed this movie, but yea it wasn't as good as the last. Who is everyone's favorite Bond actor?????? I would say mine are in this order... Connery Pierce B Roger Moore...then Craig I have been watching 007 since I was a little kid with my dad I still watch the movies with my dad whenever they come on
