This alotment issue with dealers could also be some BS.....Ferrari could be pulling back 430s to accomadate the summer release of the CALi....Think about much lower cost better margin and they can mow them out the door fast. Ferrari has allways had control issues.....TWO MORE CENTS BEN

I believe there could be serious legal issues if Ferrari fails to deliver product if the dealers still want it. Being a franchisee is not totally a one way street. We shall see.

Don't expect dealers to pitch a real fit with Ferrari. Maybe, with GM or Ford there are strength in numbers. But, if you pi$$ and moan to Ferrari they'll just ignore you at the next F1 race, and then you'll get all of the leftover Light Blue 430s with yellow interiors at the end of the year. :)

Yes. The prices for stocks and real estate will go up over the next 3 years and a used Ferrari will only go down.

I was at my local dealer and told that I could more than likely get a scud next year for MSRP. That means 430's are gonna go for under msrp if things do not change

All the bargain hunters will do well to sit on the fence a bit longer. The market is soft and will get softer for the 430. Regardless of the fact that it's a depreciating asset, and that it should be bought and enjoyed now, why not wait a bit longer for a better optioned car at a better price? I really don't understand the mentality that one shouldn't care about the money aspect when buying a ferrari. I'm a pretty liberal spender and I usually get what I want when I want it. However, when the waiter tells me about todays specials, Ill always lend him my ear.

Here's the lesson: If I had spent like I was going to die tomorrow or didn't care about the money, I never would have had enough money to buy my 430 in the first place, or any other Ferrari for that matter. There is a place for deferred gratification. Without it, you'll never have anything but money worries.

The blatantly obvious point I am trying to make my friend is that a ferrari.. is an expensive toy.. and it will always be an expensive toy (even a 30k ferrari is going to cost in maintenance).. you can wait.. and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait.. and if you are waiting for the price to drop.. you are going to be waiting forever.. and ever and ever and ever..

deferred gratification.. sure.. but if you don't jump at some point.. you will NEVER jump..

If you have the means.. buy it.. will it be cheaper next year? ABSOLUTELY.. but will it be even cheaper the year after that? YEP... so the question is.. when do you want to enjoy the car? because you sure as hell aren't going to "win" the war by waiting long enough.. you will just go without a car another year...

I don't understand the people who endlessly wait.. but I suppose that is because all the people who realize it's a no win scenario aren't posting about "when is the right time to buy" since they OWN the cars already :)

If you want it - go ahead to buy it at a reasonable market price now NOW : don't worry about price going up or down !! If one day , could be tomorrow - you died; You would be in heaven but your money is still in the bank ... how good would that be ? Enjoy it now , if you can afford it . Amen.

    Pano,

Everybody is holding their breath right now before the holidays. People in general and business' are feeling the crunch. After the holidays, I think all hell will break lose. I'm fairly certain it'll get a lot worse before it gets better. I've already seen decent 05s at $150K. I wouldn't be surprised if we'll see prices around $140K and below in january. Go ahead and be as condescending as you want. The wise thing for anyone in the market is still to hold out a few months, get the car then and put $10K or more in the pocket. No matter how wealthy one is, ~ $10K is still good money.

I agree with Peter. I don't think most people are saying wait forever or even years to save some money. I think they are saying wait a few months because the market will get softer and will be a better purchase in the winter. So unless you want to be one now and store it for the winter, I would wait a few months and see what happens. The only thing for sure is that the price is not going to go up in the next few months.

I am not trying to be condescending.. what I am trying to say is that there will ALWAYS be a better time.. and price drop will always be speculation.. no matter how things look.. it will always be speculative..

beyond that.. even if they buy it in the winter and save 10k.. they could always wait until NEXT winter and save another 10+ k? where will it end?

    buy it, enjoy it..

we all have different view and I understand yours.. but as an aside I merely ask you to understand mine..

I don't see buying a 100k+ depreciating asset as a brilliant financial move.. it's not.. this is not the purchase to attach rational thinking to.... I don't care how much they save.. even in 2 months there will be better ways to spend your money..
