I do care about resale, but I was wondering, won't the F430 Scuderia Spider's value actually GO DOWN if a new model comes out? Even if it's a limited edition......?

I don't think so, it is VERY limited. With 499 being produced, it will go up in value. Also I would get the Scuderia Spider, and then sell when the F450 comes out. You will probably make some cash on that deal too.

I can't do that. If I get the Scud Spider now, I'm gonna keep it for atleast 4-5 years. I just wish I knew more about the F450 (or whatever it's called)....... :(

I say if you can afford the Scuderia Spider then make the purchase and enjoy the car! Who really knows when the next car will come out or what it will look like, you might actually hate the way it looks!!

I personaly would go with the scud spider, I think that the new 430 spider is not coming before 2011, normaly the coupe starts first and the spider has 18 months delay. And now you know what you get and its really seldom with 499 cars and resell price later is higher then the msrp for shure.
I would collect the Scuderia spider anyway.
430 successor you can buy later if you will fall in love with it, but to get a scuderia spider later is porbably not easy for a fair price.

i'd say get the scuderia spider. Drive it and when the new 'F450' comes out, test drive it and if you like it do a deal with the dealer. Because its one out of 499, it'll hold its value pretty well even when the new one is here, so you'll likely lose next to no money!

One thing you can bank on - there will always be something bigger, better and faster on the horizon - but you cannot compare the Scuderia/16M/360CS to the regular cars 430/360.

For one thing they're produced in significantly lower numbers and look at the 360CS, it's still selling around original list 5 years later and having been effectively replaced by the Scuderia. Judsing by this forum it seems to be more popular than ever, either despite or because of the Scuderia.

There's an interesting graph in the Scuderia brochure of 0-62mph acceleration times for the past 4 Ferrari models 355/360/430/Scuderia - and funny enough the F430 in only a whisper faster than the 360CS, but the 360CS is significantly faster than the regular 360. Same applies to the Scuderia. So although Ferrari will likely replace the F430 within the next 12-18 months - that model wont replace the more "hard-core" car. Remember, Ferrari will produce around 14,000 F430's before the model's end, but only around 1,500 Scuderia's and only 499 16Ms.

Personally I am not a soft-top guy so I am not a fan of the 16M - I suspect there's a lot of marketing there as the 430 Spider is probably being outclassed by the new Lambo Gallardo. Ferrari may not be shifting as many Spiders as they'd like to. I just don't get the lightweight, stripped-down, track focussed "soft-top"! But your investment will be safe - to be sure.

The Scud Spider being limited production will be a much more sought after car that a new mass produced Ferrari.

Sure there will be a fever at first to get the newest F-car just like there was for F430 but that hype dies and if you look at all them for sale now so does the price.

Get a piece of history IMO. Let alone it is a kick ass car

I dont think the next generation will upstage the 16M. In your position I'd get the spud and if you happen to like the next generation better, why not trade in? I dont see why you'd have to lock yourself into a car for 4-5 years unless you want to. There are a lot of purchase and lease options available that will allow you the flexibility to get in and out of a car while not losing out too much. Besides, I think the spud will carry a premium a long while into the release of the next generation so you might end up on top.

Why not? I think that makes sense and you get the best of both worlds.

Buy the Spud now. Who knows when the 450 spider will come out, and it probably wont equal the Spud. If in doubt, buy both. You can always drive the Spud, and if the 450 spider blows you away, sell the Spud for even money. Lifes short, get the cool one now.

16M for sure. Dont even think twice. The 450 looks really neat but you never know what the car looks like until Ferrari releases it officially.

Have you ever heard of a CS owner that regrets not going for the 430?

What would you rather have, a Challenge Stradale, or a regular 430? If you answer is the Stradale, then I would recommend the Scuderia Spider.

Just look at the 550 Barchetta if you want a feel for how prices hold up on modern limited edition Ferraris. They made 500+- of these too, and prices are holding up VERY well.
