Get the book "Ferrari Dino SP's" by John Godfrey. He has alot of information
and photos of #0802. It was one of three new SP's built in 1962. This was the
only one with this size motor.

    286SP motor specifications

    Bore and Stoke 90X75

    Engine V6/60 deg.

    Capacity 2,862

    Compression ratio 9.5:1

    Redline 6,800 RPM

    HP 260 (says Ferrari)

Yes, this book is HIGHLY recommended. The author owned 0804 for many years and was a very serious expert.

    Thanks to all.

What kind of Borrani wheels (dimensions and codes) and tyres use it?

Here's another shot of 0802, when brand new, taken at the famous Ferrari press conference on the 24th February 1962 in the factory courtyard in Maranello. Belgian journalist Paul Frère (in the back) talking to a colleague. Note handwritten type designation "286" on the rear panel behind the steering wheel.

I am not at a place where my reference books are but wasn't one of the versions a V8?

I do remember Lou Chinetti had various different versions of the engines in storage.

By the time Targa Florio came around the car was running a 2.6 V8 instead
of the original 2.8 V6. Thats why the caption reads 268SP. Ferrari sure was making alot of F1 based motors back then.

Someone can confirm that the chassis type is 561 and the rims are 15x5,25 front and 15x6,5 rear.

Godfrey gives the rim widths you've quoted. Was it common for Borranis to go in increments of 0.25 as opposed to the usual 0.5 increments? Maybe these are the tyre sizes.

    Also the 268 engine (2645cc) was quoted at 265bhp @ 7000rpm, and the 286 (2862cc) at 260bhp @ 6800.
If correct the V8s were thus giving about 12% more bhp per litre than the V6.
The 246SP (2417cc) engine on the other hand was more of a screamer at 275bhp @ 7500, but doubtless with less torque.

Chassis type 561 is for 196 SP, 246 SP, 248 SP, 268 SP.
    0790, 0798 and 0804 all had type 561 chassis.

From Road and Track August 1962 - a Ferrari special edition.
The centrefold is a magnificent pic of Ricardo Rodriguez in the Targa Florio by Henry Manney.
The way Enzo produced both road and track cars, I wonder how anyone kept track of them - or is it now left to the worthies on this board ??

    Cheers,
    Dennis.
