Well to make the MQG owners feel better, I notice today Babcock and Brown is at 30c from their high of $30... not so nice symmetry of numbers.

well the trend seems to be a couple day rally .. followed by a good tree shake bringing down the companies that are still standing.. look at BNB, FMG, OZL .. looks like the shaking will continue till everyone is down to an equal platfrom and then along term sideways movement before we see any signs of recovery

Liberty just fired the BDM's here and a couple of underwriters will go too. Just not enough business around, no appetite for lending and if offers are made they are either too expensive or the LVR too low. Had 9 enquiries from the Net in the last 48 hours, none doable. Shooting this afternoon and fishing at the weekend....far more productive!

a 1.45 dividend made MQG an excellent buy at $20......as the market reflected.

as long as they can stay in business they're very good value.....but there are some true bluechips just as good at the moment which definitely won't shut the doors.

i still think it was very nice of scud, our resident investment expert, to point out MQG to us and explain what a great investment opportunity it is.

Socialism : You have 2 cows. The state nationalizes one and gives it to your neigbour
Communism : You have 2 cows. The state takes both and gives you some milk.
Nazism : You have 2 cows. the state takes both and sells you some milk
Fazism : You have 2 cows. the state takes both and shoots you dead.
Bureaucratism : You have 2 cows. The state takes both, shoots one for meat, milks the other, then have a congressional meeting to decide what to do with the Milk and Meat.
Traditaionl Captitalism : You have 2 cows. You sell 1 and borrow some money to buy a bull, your herd multiplies, economy grows. you sell all of them and retire on income.
Lehman Brothers' Venture Captialism : You have 2 cows. You sell 3 of them to your public listed company, using a LC opened by your brother in law at Bear Stearns, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all 4 cows back, with a tax exemption of 5 cows. The milk rights of the 6 cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island company secretly owned by the majority shareholders who sells the rights to all 7 cows back to your listed company. the annual report says the company owns 8 cows, with an option on 1 more. you sell the cow to buy a new president of the United States, leaving you with 9 cows. no balance sheet provided with the release. The public then buys the Bull ****.

SAO PAULO, Brazil - A stock exchange trader has shot himself on the trading floor in Brazil.

Sao Paulo's Bovespa stock exchange says the 36-year-old man shot himself in the chest a couple of hours before markets closed in South America's biggest city.

The Bovespa statement says Paulo Sergio Silva was taken to a hospital, but his condition was not immediately available.

It was not clear if he shot himself due to the recent sharp losses in Brazilian stocks or for other reasons.

Trading was halted for a few minutes after the shot was fired on Monday.
