But....but...but Mattel has the new limited edition Hot Wheels, Mothers F40 LM(A)* coming out in 2011. Shouldn't he wait? Schoolyard trade value on the matchbox will suffer and he might end up duping some 6th grader into a bad trade and wind up in a trashcan, covered with orange juice! * A is for almost...
Nice dilema to have. I don't believe there is a wrong answer - apart from deciding to do nothing. Life is very fragile and opportunities come and go in a heartbeat. Don't pass on the opportunity to own a piece of history only to regret it in the future (if you are fortunate enough to see that day).
I hope you know Ferrari is playing with limited number production of such a car.It s not a legitim car, if you want a track car buy a scud,if you want a spider for cruising, buy a 430.In fact,if you want a marketing car with the"magic limited",just buy it.
At first glance it would seem unlikely that an authorized Ferrari dealer would offer you this car...............and as you've stated, you've hesitated on buying a 430 even as it nears its run. If the Scuderia spider is coming out in such limited quanities one would assume it being offered to Ferraris best customers first. And that presumably would be one that has previously bought multiple cars........including the 430 in "any" iteration. Just my thoughts.
NO car is holding value. i challenege anyone to sell anything right now. NO BIDS guys. limited edition is the oldest bs in the biz. who cares? and yes i sold my CS for a 430 coupe and never looked back. that poor little old 3.6l....no torque.......get the 450 anyday
It's amazing that this thread has generated so many responses and suggestions for someone virtually unkown
+1 That's what make F-Chat great. You don't have to be a post-whore to be shown (some) respect and get (mostly) fantastic and knowledgeable responses. (I know your post was sarcastic, but come on... "my post count is bigger than yours"... really?) Edit - With Ferrari selling so many cars annually, surely there's one or two legitimate owners out there that don't spend hours a day on this board... Let's not be so quick to chase away new members. I'm all for running off the "Wassup, witch 'rarri shud i bye yo? my bidnaz is mad tite and i needs to spend some dollas" d-bags, but scuderia spider should be given a chance... Just my .02
The dealer mentioned that because of the economic crisis, most American and European buyers (who would have put down their deposits by now) are backing off, and that's the only reason the car is still available to prospective buyers. I'm not a Ferrari owner- whichever of these I buy, it's going to be my first Ferrari.
I appreciate the support. And since i don't know how to quote multiple users in one post, I'm going to try and answer them all here. I'm not a Ferrari owner YET. I'm fairly young, don't have money of my own, but have got a fairly rich father who's promised me any car I want (under a certain price limit) in 2010, but I obviously have to convince him to get it now if I do decide to go for the Scud Spider . Please don't judge me. I'm presently located in UK, but the car's destined for India. And the Scud Spider's going to cost me (read my dad) about 425,000 pounds; because India has a 105% import duty. Hope that clears any doubts.
I'd actually, surprisingly, have a regular 430. Especially for Indian roads, it's a lot more practical. Plus, I think it looks better.
Vijay will probably sell your dad one of his 2008 F1 cars with the Ferrari engine for less - ideal for Indian roads !
Enzo Ferrari once replied to a question about the best Ferrari and said " the best Ferrari is the latest Ferrari" please don't blow your money on a car that is made to keep sales up at the end of the life cycle of the F430 model , you will surely regret it when the F450 is out in 2010 and by the way all information I have gathered points to 2010 not later! and yes resale value should matter !! if you are a smart person who knows the value of money??? the new car will be better in all possible ways, and be sure that you will like it, because we always do. look at the 360 cars today, would you get a LE 360 over a F430???? I don't think so. the hype you see on this forum is exactly why you shouldn't by the Scud Spider, it's something new, and when the next new thing is out, it will be old.................... good luck in what ever you do.
Once again these are two totally different cars. One is a more race car like (Like not One) and one is a plusher sports car. The 16M is a marketing exercise to sell a few more 430 chassis at the end of the run. The 450 will be a more advanced car and will look better more modern. The market is in free fall and it's not surprising you can get a 16M so get any silly ideas out of your head that any production sports car will be an investment. They're only making 499 of them because as you have learned they're having trouble selling all of their production today and are reeling production in but IMO the days of premiums and waiting lines are gone for many, many years. Only you can answer what will make you happy. I'd drive a 360CS and an F 430. That will give you some idea of the relative differences there will be between an 16M and a 450.
I'd get the Scuderia Spider 16M... the test mules of the F450 aren't showing much promise... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very interesting post actually ... do you have any details regarding Ferrari having issues selling their cars?
Everyone is having issues selling their cars today. Ferrari had hoped to bring production to 10K per year including the California in 09. Personally I don't think that goal will be met.
That holds very true indeed. Its already worst enough the big three American automotive makers can't even get a bailout plan as it is. But staying on the subject at hand, I'd say do what makes you feel happy and forget about resale value anytime soon. Just enjoy the car for what it was built for regardless of how many of them were made. Ferrari will always remain somewhat of an exclusive car and that's all there is to it. I'm in the market for a 430 as we speak, but just looking for the right one and taking my time with the search. In my opinion, a Ferrari will never go out of hype or style no matter what model it is, or what year it was made. It'll always have that special feeling that no other car will ever have. Cheers!!!!
