There's nothing abnormal about missing a stage in your life that you (likely) enjoyed. Happens to everyone.

We didn't have fat, ugly people back then, so, what with their highly toned legs and firm sweaters... I miss the cheerleaders, but, that's it.

Yea, I was just having nostalgia about it today, thinking how things could have been different....

So long as you're not still missing it 10 years from now, you're ok :)

I was talking to my cousin who is 32yrs old. She was talking about her kids who are 7 and 10yrs. She was saying about how she doesn't want to turn into some freaking-out overbearing mother when they become teenagers, because (and I quote) "high school is the best years of your life, and I don't want them to miss any of it".

    Errr, what?

I said "high school was your best years?".

"Yeah, for everyone" she said. I just nodded and agreed, and inside I was thinking "uhhhh... WOW... that's kind of sad".

I'm 12 years out of high school and still miss it, because I got to spend all day, every day hanging out with very close friends doing very stupid things with no ramifications or responsibility. that opportunity will likely never present itself again.

which is not to say I haven't moved on/matured/don't enjoy life now...but it was a "lightning doesn't strike twice" phase in life. good times...

Well considering you are 106 years old, you must've loved high school. It's that one place, oh hell, did they have schools way back when ([/sarcasm]) Just let me know if you need someone to spoon feed you some oatmeal. I'll pee in it so it stays warmer. :D

I didn't buy one, they sold out. Apparently the senior StuCo sold it to the whole school as well. I wish I had one. :D to wear to bed, it was blue and with a white lightning bolt, and on the back it says Shock 'em. If it had a hand doing the shocker, I would probably have bought one. :D

High school was pretty good. College is a lot better. It's like high school, but you have a place to drink and bang chicks at.

It is possible to peak early.

For example...I was 18 , running my own company, making lots of cash and being interviewed by national media.

Now it wasnt 'High School' per se that was the high point...but it was the age at which I SHOULD have been attending High School...but truthfully when you get that kind of success at such an early age anything that comes next doesnt quite live up to it.

Sure I went on to bigger fame and fortune, and other events in my life surely equaled the enjoyment of those years...but they never exceeded it.

I could make a billion dollars next year and date a super model but it wont be as exciting as when i was making $100k at 18 supervising FX on Miami Vice and dating a chick that was on the cover of Seventeen magazine. 18 was a very good year for me.

I graduated from high school so many years ago that I don't even remember going. Maybe I didn't!

Actually, where I come from, it's called secondary school.

    But you are the exception.

My cousin is 32, divorced, 2 kids, on "disability" for "panic attacks", can never pay her bills, hasn't ever left the state of Massachusetts (which is a very small state) other than once to go to the UK with her family when she was 11yrs old.

She said "I hope they get to enjoy high school - after all, those are the best years of your life". The way she said it said that for her, it was all downhill from HS. I think that's really pathetic, actually... not based on the age, but based on the best time of your life is in high school? Damn. If an average high school life (hanging out, fooling around, etc) is the peak of one's life, something is seriously wrong in either their expectations or their achievements post-HS, IMO.

I don't really think about it and haven't for a long time. I just barely keep in touch with one friend from back then. It was fun to see some of the people at the reunion. I wasn't one of the "It" crowd in HS but later ended up with one of the most desirable girls and became one of them by default anyway. Didn't mean squat by then.....

Prom Queen was still hot while the most likely to succeed became a pothead loser!
