Keep the cars as they are but the drivers before each qualifying and race pull a team out of a hat and thats the car they drive that weekend, this would seperate the men from the boys.

That's exactly what I was thinking, more points for the win and points for fastest lap and pole.....good job.

Give people two points for pole, and the first pit stops will happen around lap ... two. ;)
(Thus making pole position meaningless for the race results.)

Points for fastest lap means a lot of back marker teams will be stretching their mid race stops to the gasping points -- a lot of cars just running out of gas.

... or ... can a car run on KERS without gas at all? (Limping into the pits with dry tanks.)

It's supposed to be a racing circuit, not a racing circus.

The average NASCAR viewer has enough trouble following F1 team strategies without throwing all the sub-plots and alternative issues into the mix.

Here's a radical notion: How about the cars just go out and race each other?

I thought the "new points" system was in reference to the FIA changing the points AFTER the race to favor Ferrari.

I really liked this idea, until recently I thought of a ****ty situation. This system justifies choosing a #1 driver early in the season. I guess some would think that's alright, and maybe it wouldn't be too bad but I don't think I'd like it. Imagine if we had this system for this year. At the start of the year Kimi would be designated #1 driver after Malayasia and Felipe would hand wins to Raikkonen, then Raikkonen would have his mysterious slump in performance, and Lewis Hamilton would run away with the WDC.

A very good and valid point. You deserve a gold medal. :)

I do like the idea though that it forces the drivers to go for the victory.
