    Cars" is a 1979 song by Gary Numan, released as a single from the album The Pleasure Principle. It reached the top of the charts in several countries and today is considered a New Wave staple. In the United States, it reached #9 on the Billboard charts in 1980. However, its popularity was so enormous that it overshadowed much of the rest of Numan's career in the 1980s, causing him to be thought of in later years as a one-hit wonder in many countries.

    Don't think so, But I know its from a movie or two that was released around 5 years ago. Forget which one now.

    I remember playing Vice City extensively when it came out, with no recollection of hearing that song, but who knows, you're very possibly right! :)

    I could have named that tune in a hemi-demi-semi-quaver note. It's unmistakable.

    "Down in the Park" is another song by Numan that makes great use of atmospherics. It's best heard, but not seen on live cut from compilation album Urgh! A Music War or seen and heard on Numan's concert film - Micromusic. Lots of great, great New Wave acts and tunes on the compilation album, BTW.
