I talked to a Jag "expert" about a year ago about the XJR 15 and XJ 220. Said the XJ220 was by far the more sorted car.

Have not heard much good about it either.

its often forgotten... but with early 1990's rubber, the XJ220 was lapping the Nurburgring faster then any other production street car @ 7:47. Long before Nissan ever claimed they did 7:59 with their R34 GTR ;)

Well sorted, and ideal are far from each other. When you are on the throttle, the car is purely fantastic. but, off boost, the car is slow to gather boost, and sounds "awful" according to a friend of mine.

Some people love to stay in the rpm range for the boost. One guy I know loved that, and owns one... the other guy test drove, and forgot about it... and since bought a CGT... he's a bit partial to natural aspiration, or supercharging as a means of speed.

I guess it's art. There was some guy who posted pics of his crashed models of car wrecks, including the Jimmy Dean car.

Some people called him sick and twisted.

But he mentioned the art side of it... after all, we read and watch the news, which include photos and videos of car crashes. Taking a picture takes a lot less time, but in the end, the photographer presents a picture of a car crash, just as the artist who builds a crashed model.

Stunt guys also crash cars in movies, or create the image in CG. And we watch those action movies and enjoy those car scenes.

It's a weird art form. But it does exist.

You're getting into "modeling" now Doc? :)

As a kid, I use to make models of WWII planes crashing.

Why ???? You are adding weight and losing speed.

Not suprised on the sound. The engine traces its routes to the Rover Metro. Tinny 6 cylinder thing. The width of the XJ220 would make it very difficult to drive on anything other than the highway.

It was to fit a specific seris' racing class. But I agree, a waste....I'm sure after the car was done racing, or if they changed the series/class it raced in the orginal V8 could be tossed back in.

Dark blue on tan leather is nice!

Dark blue on tan leather is not nice on a F40. There's a reason why they left the factory in Rosso Corsa...
