Hans, You should have gotten your priorities right then and rid yourself of the business partner first. I saw your car a good few times, what a beautiful beast it was!
Well, hhh, you had it in 1988, here's 6051 being filled up on the way to its new owner in June 2008. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
I remember your (ex)car at the Ring that year. I have some pics. Here is #6051 at the Targa-Florio 1966. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's "hhh" in 6051 at the AvD-Oldtimer-Grand Prix in 1988 (#21/7) and 1989 (#443). COPYRIGHT MARCEL MASSINI Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
At Le Castellet, Ferraris are meant to be driven...... Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
MM, Thanks, these pics are new to me! You don't have to tell me about priorities, I know..... But it selling a car now and then did give me that chance to race many great cars that most people never even had the chance to sit in, never mind racing them. These pics were at Zandvoort and the same race at the N'ring.......memories. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
More #5051 at the Ring. 1988 was a good year. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Francis, I think you got the chassis number wrong there by a thousand or so. Same car, same Zandvoort meeting below. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice shots of 5893 in the aftermath of Gregory's "problem" in the tri-oval. The last time I had seen the car it was in the area between the entrance of turn 1 and the exit of the infield back onto the oval, lying on it's roof right up near the outer track wall with fluids leaking out if it. In the dark we couldn't really see how much damage was done, but the car was obviously a mess. We couldn't believe that it hadn't gone up in flames since he skidded for what seemed like a hundred yards on it's roof and there was fuel and oil everywhere.... Gregory had said that it was likely the "fastest LM he had ever driven" and he of all folks should have known... Too bad, as he was running like a bat out of he!! all afternoon and evening, we were always surprised how far up the leader board he was since the LM was considered way past obsolete by that time and there were other faster sports class cars around by then.
the car has currently a wrong nose imho. Look at the photos in 1966, 1988 (still correct shape) and 2007/2008
Funny that I didn't notice it but in fact the nose has been changed since I owned it. One of the later owners must have damaged it.......... On one of the previous pics at Zandvoort, the top pic with the beige interior and blue wheels is not 6051 but the car that Pieter Boel used to own.
Well, I would have filled her up with 98 octane rather than the cheaper 91.........At that time gas prices were pretty high, but hey who cares..... Nice car! ciao Oscar
Seeing the photo in this thread showing an LM cornering next to a Dino 206 prompts me to ask Ed Niles how the two cars compared dynamically inasmuch as he owned and drove both.
Tom: Wrong. Both the build sheet cover page as well as the chassis page (autotelaio) clearly state "6119 GT" WITH the suffix "GT". Not on the metal tag on the car, however. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Again #5893. Masten Gregory is sitting in the car during verification, before Le Mans 1968. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No I think it was. Remember it was supposed to take over from the GTO, thus Ferrari tried to homologate it as a GT. It was also shown/displayed at new car shows as a road car. Pete
I guess we need to check the data plates on several LMs. I thought 5909 had "LM" on the plate as "5909LM". Jeff
