I had a car stolen and it was found just as this Gallardo is shown. Parked in a parking garage, covered in dust. Security finally got around to calling in VIN and calling ME asking why my car was in their garage. IDIOTS!

Ironically I had purchased a replacement TWO weeks before they found my old car.

 

Whats a shame?

That dust on the back window is tragic. Is the car unlocked 24/7?

 

Yes, the car has no protection an it is open 24/7.

 

Oh my gosh! That's insane. Whats the story on the owner?

 

The poice saw the car and because is an SLR they make an inspection and found that the licence plates was of a Smart!!! so the car was stoled and the police arrest the guy and the police take the car and the car is there for almos 1 or 2 years open with no protection because nobody reclaims the car

NOT ALL OF US, Not at that particular time. No theft insurance on that one. It was a special use project and not driven regularly. Mostly in storage. On one of the few times it was brought out, it disappeared, driven a total of 40 miles from where it was stolen. After notifying the police I put a new battery in it and had to hot wire it myself to get it running to drive it home.

Haha! I have seen it at the beginning of August when it was already pretty covered in dust. It's on the (heavily paid) parking of the airport here in Alicante, just 10 min away from where I am sitting now. No, I am not going to wash it.

I don't see why this car is not on the showroom floor, no need for a sypder, plenty of cool air to flow inside the car. and cuts down on weight like this.

Great thread. Lot of good (and some sad) stories. I've got a boatload of abandoned car pics, but unfortunately no Ferrari's.

Reminds me, about 2 years ago I was at the on the computer at school, just cruising F-Chat when the girl next to me asked me if I like 'those ferrari cars'. I said "yes, thats why I'm in college" and she told me that she thought there were two on some land her Dad hunts on near Vicksburg, MS out in the woods. Of course, she had really gotten my attention! I begged her to tell me where the land was, I google mapped it or whatever, and that weekend I made the 2 hour drive to where I would hopefully see my barnfind, long lost ferrari's. She had told me "one looked real old, and one is all 80's looking." I meet up with her Dad (who could not care less about cars) and we walk out probably about 100 yards into the woods....

a freaking rusty old Corvair convertible and a wrecked red Fiero 'GT'.... Let-down doesn't even begin to describe it. I thanked the girls dad for his trouble and headed home. Maybe next time I hear of an old Ferrari it will be real.

Why in the world would someone leave that car at the airport and never come back? Did you find out what happened to it after that? I would be tempted to go find my extra set of keys and take my baby back home!

 

Have you ever asked the guy, respectfully, what the heck the point is to letting these cars just sit and never even think of using them??

 

Wait a second. So the police seized the car and took it into their posession, or they left it where they found it?

 

The car was found in a supermarket and the police left it outside the police station.

I am 99% sure I know the guy who owned that F355. This fella brought me to NOLA to DJ a few years back - nice guy. The club has/had a Ferrari themed room. The owner has 2 or 3 F Cars, last one I saw was a yellow F355.

And - get this - he's a NOLA cop by day!
