    But don't Vantages have a DB and then a number? Like DB7, DB9, etc.

    The Vantage was the hotter version of the V8, A truly hand built car. Over twice as many DB7s as V8s.

    The green coupe is actually and Aston Martin DBS. The earliest versions were 6 cylinder cars the later ones were V8s. Note the plate on the car makes reference to the Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, where a DBS was featured in the film. I believe the DBS was penned by the same individual who designed the Lagonda that was built from the 1970's to around the early 90s. The blue convertible car is an AM V8 Volante, and it does not appear to be a Vantage. As others mentioned the Vantage is the hotter version, with more power. Early cars (DB5 and DB6) had very little or no body work to distinguish the Vantage from standard cars. Early V8 Vantages had front and rear spoilers and later V8 Vantages had "ground effects" and larger more pronounced flaired wheel arches in addition to spoilers.

    Its not really surprising. The V8s are much rarer and were truly hand built cars. The DB7s shared lots of parts with Jag XK8s. The V8 Vantages of the 80s very heavy but powerful cars. If I'm not mistaken around 1984 R&T had an feature on topspeed and I think the only cars back then that were faster were a 512BBi and a Ruf Turbo. Top speed on the V8 Vantage was around 170-175 mph.

    One is a (definitely) DBS ,the convertible looks like a V8 Oscar India edition(not sure for 100%).

    Always a bunch of these for sale at autosportdesigns in L.I., NY.
    Pretty cool retro style cars, but I'm not sure I'd go to the trouble to own one.
    Prefer the earlier cars, but until recently, those were through the roof, pricewise.
    The DBS looks cool, though.

    Special edition,one of the most desirable V8 Astons ,production started in October 1978.

    The "Oscar India" specification was introduced in October of 1978 at the Birmingham International Motor Show. Visually, the former scoop on the bonnet gave way to a closed "power bulge", while a spoiler was integrated into the tail. Most Oscar India cars were equipped with a Chrysler "Torqueflite" 3-speed automatic transmission, with wood trim fitted for the first time since the DB2/4 of the 1950s. Just 352 Oscar India models were built from 1978 through 1985.
