I was down in Austin for Thanksgiving visiting family. While downtown we passed what looked to be an ex-used car lot or something to that effect. I spied what looked to be three Ferrari's. After going shopping with my wife we returned to take a few pictures. The cars are located on Lamar Street a few blocks away from the Whole foods. I hope someone can rescue these cars and get them back on the road!!! I am assuming the red convertible is not a factory car.

Very interesting Bill!! Thanks for sharing pics mate. :):)

That looks to be a 308 convertable. Someone will soon tell us who does/did those conversions in the USA! :):)

That yellow 400i (I think thats it), is also a convertable! Probably done by the same person. :):)

Go back and make an offer on all 3 cars Bill! Buy them cheap and on sell them mate! :p:p

They aren't abandoned. I drive by there everyday and those cars have been sitting outside for years and they move around occasionally. I know who the old owner of the lot and cars is. He sold the lot and the cars went with it. The Mondial hasn't been there as long as the rest so I'm not sure what kind of condition it's in but the others are in pretty bad shape. I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. I don't have the kind of money that it would take to bring them back to decent condition. I would much rather buy a car that's already in good condition rather than trying to restore one.

I made an offer on a 308 that they had a while back that still had the top. It was in much better condition but they thought that I didn't know the market and they insulted me by asking WAY too much for the car. That was under the old ownership.

Good luck! Hopefully the current owner is more reasonable. The Mondial actually looks like a nice car from the outside. I've never looked at it up close.

Not sure Russ. I would Love to have a hardtop Mondial but I made a different purchase recently and don't have the extra cash now. I may stop by on Monday and take a closer look to see what kind of condition it's in and I'll report back.

They used to have a 348 SS and that was the only car that they ever took care of. It always sat underneath the cover seen in the photos while the other car sat out in the elements. I think they used to rent out the 348 SS.

Thanks - Depending, I might could make that a pretty nice car inexpensively if bought well. Heck, I've got a ton of parts.

It was 2001 when I made an offer on the red one- I think I offered $4000 less than his asking price, and he told me to -and I quote- "F*$K off"

Glad to hear ownership has changed hands.

    Cool, this is on Lamar??

Glad you didn't "spot" my blue one, under the blue tarp over on South Congress!
(Hint: Next to the old porno theatre....)

Austin is a GREAT place to abandon your Ferrari, it's kind of like a airplane graveyard out in the desert, humidity is low, etc......

No 308GTB convertibles ever made, it's "cut"...

Bill, you should start thread in Texas Section next time you come down!

We were dancing off the turkey, (and drinking some Wild Turkey!) at the Broken Spoke right where you spotted these cars, then went to South Congress 'till 3AM the next morning!

    All in a day's work...LOL!
