Ok, I have been looking at 355s and 360s, and whenever I see the picture of keys I get confused.

The most I have seen, is

    1 red key fob
    1 black key fob
1 black key fob in a leather pouch matching the interior

Can some one tell me the difference between three and what would originally came with the car?

    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John:

The "Red" remote is the master which has the ability (after following a rather lengthy procedure) to actually access and program/reprogram the alarm ECU. The "Black" remotes are slaves, which do not have the aforementioned ability. The F355 and F360 came from the factory with: 1 Red remote and 2 Black remotes and the color-coordinated leather key pouch. There are threads on FChat about "cloning" either of these remotes. See: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=132424. Hope this helps somewhat.

THank you, that does help a lot, I am buy either a 360 or 355 as a collector investment car and want to make sure it has all the original key, also whats the point of the leather pouch, I guess just for looks? So the red fob is almost not really meant to be used; just to program the alarm eCU

That is correct. The Red Master remote should be put in a safe place and the Black used on a daily basis. It is best to buy a car that is "complete", however, as I stated previously, there are ways to clone both Red and Black remotes.

Only true for post 95 cars. They do not have factory remotes. Another reason to add to the list....:D

if youre looking at a ferrari for investment potential stick with the 355!! far fewer 355's were produced than the 360 which makes for a brighter investment outlook.

Ya I really like the 355s. Does anyone know of what keys come with the F430, 599 or 612 when they were new?

the 430,599 and 612 come with the key and remote as one unit, basically the remote is built in to the key. for the 355 and 360 the keys and remotes are 2 seperate items.

On the newer cars they did away with the whole "master key" thing. Both keys are the same. My 612 is that way also.
