http://st1motorsport.com/ferrari/348.htm Not sure if this has been posted here before, but I found this link searching google images for Ferrari 348s. Husker wouldnt be too happy I dont think? Something to have a look at.
This is the panel produced by GAredcars I believe. I do not want to sound belittling to that product, but it differs quite a bit from the LeMans Grill. First of all, the LeMans Grill is a completed, finished piece ready to install; the GAredcars panel comes unfinished and you need a body shop to complete it unless you are handy with paint. Secondly, if my conversion math is correct, the LeMans Grill is a good bit less expensive at $1,995 delivered to your door. Add in another $75 for shipping and the Garedcars panel is about $470 more expensive. Add in another $200 for finishing, and it's $670 more.
Yup!, Huskers right on all points. I got the original and it was as he says, almost two grand plus all the other costs of finishing, shipping etc. The biggest pain was the fitment that had to be modified to FIT. Huskers setup is the way to go for all of those reasons.........way to go Husker!
when i got mine from GAredcars it was black carbon fibre and painting was optional if you wanted to match car..it was $1100 for just the panel and the wiring harnesses..got the taillights from our parts guy for around $600..i remember it needed euro version lights..dont remember the freight..this was all about a year ago
In fairness, one thing the garedcars panel has that the LeMans Grill does not is the wiring harnesses. That saves you and hour or so worth of work and is cleaner, sure enough. I have been trying to find someone to make some harnesses for the LeMans, but so far no luck.
i think it was a little rough (not vacuumed) but in fairness he knew i was going to paint it anyway....Carbon fibre, if you like the look for this application should be ready to go when you get it..(no treatment needed)..however,i wanted it to match car since i was painting all the black trim in red, rockers, spoiler, including the targa top (as per pictures i sent you )..we did have to do some trim work on the panel to get the fit we wanted..
One other key difference between the LeMans and garedcars is this: The LeMans grill is inset very slightly from the rear quarter panels; it is not an exact match-up to the side of the quarter. That is by design after a lot of thought. We experimented with this tirelessly, and in fact I surveyed a few of you on this. One of you actually didn't care for it. But...I like the way that we settled on, because it really brings out the curves of the rear quarter looking at the car directly from the back, and gives the illusion of a more elevated deck lid. You guys probably think I'm crazy sitting around thinking about stuff like this - I dream about taillight panels these days. Image Unavailable, Please Login
One additional advantage of the Le Mans grill that no one had yet mentioned is that it functions as a Challenge-type Grill (i.e., lower engine compartment temperatures). IMO, that, in itself, beats the other grill hands-down. Go get 'em Husker!
Wow - I hadn't realized that Husker, but I can see that you did spend a lot of time ooking at each detail. Great Job!
For sure looks good with the inset in black with color, but what about color on color? might look like a bad fit...IMO,best to market it as a "challenge grill" item thats best left in black..We could make the wiring harnesses if you need...contact info on our website...weserviceferrari.com
I don't know that color on color would look like a bad fit per se; I haven't tried it but someone did a photoshop of same on another thread. I was just pointing out that the design on the back is slightly different in order to achieve a certain aesthetic with the car.
