Tubi 360 muffler on Ebay

Hi guys,

Looked for a 'bargain' Tubi 360 muffler for ages, but no luck, and then having bought one new, this puppy turns up:

is "tubistyle" the name tubi works under? "Tubi Style" sounds to me like its a chinese knock off of the real thing...

Nooooooooh!!!! Tubi's full name is Tubi Style = www.tubisyle.it or http://www.carobu.com/html/tubi_style.html or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tubi_Style and Tubi punch the 360 stamp into the top of the muffler case, which is always the giveaway, which that exhaust has. If in any doubt ask the seller for the Tubi serial number which only genuine Tubi's have.

 

quick question, i know that tubi will punch "360" into the top of the muffler, but doesn't the stock 360 muffler also have "360" punched into it?

 

nope, not as far as i am aware. the tubi looks awesome in the back http://www.shineydesigns.com/Resources/exhaust.jpeg when you have the lid up, where as the stock muffler looks a big metal drum cannister

No, the stock muffler doesn't have any model logo stamped on it.

 

Can anyone comment on the note difference between a valve and non-valve tubi?

I don't think that Tubi made a version with valves BUT I can comment on a Tubi coupled with stock tips (valves) compared to a Tubi with Tubi tips (no valve). I just changed my tips over the weekend so I have recent first hand knowledge.

The valves make it much quieter at start up. It also make is somewhat quieter when you are driving very sedately. Theoretically this setup should produce a little more low end torque too.

No valves is a little more throaty in the low Rs. It is a bit louder too but not so much that you will care unless you are diving around a city. When you are on the gas, there is not much difference. The valves are open anyway to it is about the same.

Tubi tips look more cool than stock tips so it is a nice upgrade.

 

I guess if you found the system too loud, which I certainly did not and most on here do not, you could have a muffler shop cut out the valves from the stock tips and weld them into the Tubi tips.

 

Before I did my tip swap I thought about this. Obviously didn't do it but could if required.

 

Can you plesae post picture of stock tips & tubi tips ? I don't know if my 360 has tubi tips or OEM tips but it has a Tubi Exhaust. thx

 

i saw that one too. i've been looling for over 2 1/2 years for a tubi. then one came up on ebay & i bought it for the buy it now price. then this other one shows up later the same day! i paid $100 more so i'm still happy.

I think I paid a fair "market price" for mine 6 or 9 months back: $2k.
Haven't looked lately... have they gotten a lot cheaper these days?

 

you did good. i paid $2700.00, the one that just sold was $2550.00 plus shipping. i could have got one cheaper, but i had to have one that said 360 spider.

 

Oh wow, I guess I DID do pretty well! Score one for me.

 

That's what I did. It was either get nicer tips for the OEM tail-pipes and use them, or graft the bypass valves from the OEM system onto the Larini tail-pipes.

Works great....much quieter at start-up and in general. Just a neat way to make the system a bit quieter when you want it.

Just for kicks, I put relays on each solenoid and set them up on a remote-control system...so at the push of a button I can switch from loud to quiet. One quick note: if you disconnect the solenoids or render then the equivelent of disconnected, you'll likely get a check-engine light and when diagnosed, it'll direct the fault to the bypass valves: the computer likes to see them connected. You can fool the computer by simply putting a 12-volt relay in parallel just before the relay cuts into the line. Too easy.
