I'm running Windows 2000 on my home PC, and trying to load some music on to my daughter's iPod Nano.

The Nano requires iTunes version 7.4 or higher, but Windows 2000 can only handle iTunes 7.3.2.

Is there a workaround that will allow me to get this done?

    Thanks very much,

    Neil

I don't think there is any workaround, you really need to update from Windows 2000, I don't think even Microsoft supports it anymore.

Do you need iTunes store support? Do you have iTunes purchased music, or just ripped CD?

If the latter, look into using WinAmp instead of iTunes. No fancy store, but it will copy your MP3 files to the device.

Alternatively, return the nano and get a different mp3 player.

No purchased tunes, just CDs copied to the PC. I'll check out WinAmp, thank you. Never heard of this before.

If that fails, may have to go from W2000 to XP. Apparently I need to avoid Vista like the plague. Would LOVE to get a new iMac, but $2K is rather outside my comfort zone.

Many thanks for your help, gents.

Sorry, I couldn't let that pass [Although, those who know me will be impressed that I'm making zero comments on your "avoid Vista" comment. Obviously, beyond agreeing with you....]

The "Mac Mini" starts at $599. You obviously already have the necessary keyboard/mouse & display - They'll plug right in to it and you're golden......Max out the RAM (do not get it from Apple!) and it's a great 'puter.

Even the iMac is only $1200, nowhere near $2k.....

    Cheers,
    Ian
