I will be documenting the complete restoration of S/N 10191. I will try to make it photo intensive. The car is privately owned and the restoration will be handled by Competizione and Sports Cars.
    http://www.competizionecars.com/

I will start with the exterior before shots and a few interior shots. The car has been sent out for disassembly. All the mechanical restoration will be handled by Competizione. Disassembly, electrical, bodywork and paint will be handled by others. I will detail all that as it goes along. We expect the restoration to take at least a year, so i will update as i can. If anybody has any questions or comments, please chime in. If there is any info or shots you would like to see, let me know here. If you have any info on the car, please post. we think the original color was silver but are awaiting the build sheet to confirm. It will be returned to it's original color. Thanks and enjoy, ed.

Where was the car stored, the wheels look like it was kept in a barn, or somewhere it was exposed to the weather. The interior, not so much, looks to be in good kit

I know you have to restore the car but it is nice to see one in the "as found" state as most have been restored to the nines. It would be a heck of a beater if you already had a trailer queen.

If it were my car, I'd try detailing it, fixing the mechanicals, and driving it for a while. But I guess most people with a million dollar car want it to look like a million dollar car!

i'm sure the owner was torn. he is the type to shine it up and drive the wheels off of it. I'm pretty sure this won't be a pebble beach job and it will get driven hard. The shop is currently looking for an alloy bodied car to complement this one. Contact them with any leads.

Are you going to remove the "nerf" bar on the nose?

    10191:
The build sheets will NOT tell you the colors.
The original exterior color was: Argento 106-E-1.
The original interior color was: Rosso 3171.
    Full leather seats.
    Assembly sequence #128.
Scaglietti body #0130 A (you will find it in the engine compartment). Can send photos of sister cars if needed.
Car originally ordered by Luigi Chinetti Motors but changed before delivery and sold to Italy (Rome) instead.
Have full history, also the Italian registration documents for this car. Contact me by PM.
Can you please post a photo showing INTERNAL engine number (on top of bellhousing), a four digit even number (approximately "16XX" or "17XX") stamped between the type number 213 and part number 100148 (226/100474). Thank you.
I assume 10191 is still owned by Mr. D. in NC.

My experience with two 250s is the same as Marcel's. The build sheets will have no information on the paint color or type. Go with what Marcel has related to you.

You have the beginnings of an excellent chronology on this restoration. I look forward to future installments. Thank you for the effort and your willingness to share.

    Cheers

Wow, the car looks great like it is now! Only the wheels and bumpers have a little too much patina I think.
But great that is getting its original colour again!

Build sheets never show the color.
I have other written factory documents that indicate the colors plus many other specs.

Thanks for sharing this project from the beginning, it'll make a very interesting thread.

It'd make a heck of a driver in its' current state (save the wheels and chrome) but cleaned up, but since both the exterior and interior have already been done at least once, it is nice to see it is getting re-painted in the original colour. (Interior? Will look great with red as per original)

I don't particularly like the looks of the nerd-bar. If it were mine, it'd go. Cleopatra had nothing on that 275 nose.

Looking forward to the next installment,

    Good luck!

Just out of curiousity where are you having the body work done? Looks like a great project, can't wait to see the pictures along the way.

Thank you very much marcel. Richard from Competizione will be pm'ing you. He is a sponsor here and is handling the job. The car is no longer owned by Mr.D. It is now in MD. Richard can fill in the details for you. We will post a pic of the numbers when the engine gets pulled in a couple of weeks. Thanks again.

I think the nerf bar was an option; I've seen quite a few on cars in different parts of the planet. Thanks for what will be an interesting thread.

I fully agree with Ed Niles. Yes, the nerf bar was a regular option on 4-cams and many were delivered with. It is old and original and I'd leave it on the car. That's how it left the factory gate on the 18th July 1967.
