Suggestions on what's fun and what's open?
We're taking the train up on the 24th and returning home on the 27th.

We've been to New York before and have done most of the logical stuff... Liberty, Empire, Ground Zero...

    thanks!

Virtually everything is open, even on Christmas. Consider getting tickets to Wintuk. The whole family will enjoy it. Definitely visit Rockafeller plaza, see the tree, all the Xmas decorations. Walk 5th Avenue in that area and check out the windows and stores. Tons of great restaurants around there. Central Park is always fun, skating at the Wolhman rink. Metropolitan Museum, MOMA, Natural History museum/planetarium. Radio City Xmas show, if you're into that. Just a few thoughts. Enjoy!!

Well, yeah but due to the economic crisis, the city has sort of combined things.
There is now skating in Macy's window.

Sam...if you look carefully, you will see that the skaters in Macy's windows used to work at Lehman.

My favorite thing to do after a day of sightseeing and shopping in Manhattan is to find a bakery or coffee shop with an open seat by a window. Then I sit, people watch and enjoy a nice warm drink. It's better in the warmer weather when you can sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine, but New York City is so special around the holidays. I will be in town myself visiting family for the holiday.

    Enjoy your trip!

If you have any young children with you, take them over to FAO Schwartz on 5th Ave - then you can walk a few blocks down to the Disney store to complete their experience...
