so EM42 you are speaking french....better to share some stuff out F-chat... Please sent me your phone on a PM. Here is a mystery, which car is this one ??? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Could be #6228? From the black hide that is on the dash. The steering wheel is different as the one that appears on the lp112 pictures, however it looks like the one from the pictures taken at SpaItalia that kc023515 posted some time ago.
hi i just found two of the rarest islero brochures for sell now http://shop.ebay.de/merchant/opelastra1234
Apart from being one of the black interior Isleros, and apart of having this type of steering wheel that was seen on the prototype, it is very difficult to tell! My very last pick is #6009 since no one knows where it is and since you are good at discovering mystery cars! It hadn't that type of steering wheel in the "Sport-Auto" article but it could have been replaced for the Paris autoshow.
Hi everyone, I've always asked myself if the car on the first Islero brochure had a special Bull logo fitted to the mesh. It may seem strange, since you cannot really see it from the picture, it almost looks like a dust on the picture. However, this really looks like the Bull that was inverted... Does anybody have a clue? Maybe am I completely wrong...... Best regards to all. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I believe you are right about this detail, that I've also noticed and checked in J-M Borel's "Lamborghini" book where that same picture is bigger than the brochure'sone...and more evident to detailled ! Bull was inverted (not the picture as the LHD demonstrates and wipers position too...), for me that's the 1st time I'm seing that big logo with +/- 22 cm height. Ciao
I just bought a copy of "Intrepido", an italian magazine published in March 1968 in which you can find a small article about the launch of the Islero. The pictures are certainly those of 6000. They call it "Islero GT", and what surprises me is that it seems that the rear logo mentions "Lamborghini Islero GT" instead of "Lamborghini Islero". It is the first time I point out this. And it looks like 6000 lost this might-be logo for a regular one after a certain period of time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
For all of you Islero watchers out there: A nice red Islero "S" from a private collection sold at Coy's auction in Padova last month for $71K.
Hi Marcel, great thread. Yes, that is my old car. STill lives in the bay area and has continued updating and quality work done to it from the new owner. Thanks for posting the pics, she looks great! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Riverflyer, you have a great looking GTS, do you have other pictures to share ? which VIN again ? EM42, regarding the specific Bull crest on the Lambo brochure, I've look closely at my original sample with a magnifying glass, it seems very particular and among all my early days Press Article, none Islero reported have that badge... Did you find out another clue about that crest ?
Hi Ferry400, I didn't find any other clue about that particular bull. Unfortunately... By the way here are some news about my Islero: the motor is now completely rebuilt and should have been run on the testbench earlier this week. Neldo told me he wanted to be there to hear the first cry of the motor. I didn't have him on the phone yet but I can't wait! I'll keep in touch. Riverflyer, wow, what a beautiful Islero, very nice colour combination.
I'd love to see a better picture of rear logo layout. When I got #6243 all the emblems were missing, when we went to new emblems on the nose badge holes lined up perfect, however the rear script wasn't even close. The holes were much further apart and there were additional holes that I assumed a previous owner had mounted the "S" logo or something like that, even though the "S" should not have been mounted in that position. While #6243 has been painted a number of times, I now wonder if it may have originally had the "Lamborghini Islero GT" logo? Joe
Hi Italiancars, I only have one other picture of the car where we can guess this special logo. It comes from the same magazine and I tried to scan it, but the result is poor. I have no other clue. PS: was your logo a reproduction or an original? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I remember that car from Concorso a couple of years back. One of the pretiest Islero's I've ever seen. I took my Miura up there that year and I will lusted after that Islero...still do. Alberto
Here is a photo of # 6243 when I got it. It did not have any emblems at all. Notice the 4 holes on the truck lid, the standard (reproduction) Lamborghini Islero script doesn't even come close to matching up with the holes. In fact some of the holes are further apart than the length of the script. A view of an "S" scripti shows the "S" above the Lamborghini Islero which would not match up with the holes. However the Lamborghini Islero GT script may actually match up with those holes. Joe Image Unavailable, Please Login
Si! prototipo! Nice the owner really uses the car, so we can see it once in a while. Nice pictures, grazie! Marcel
Hi LC3929, Very nice to see 6000 on the street! Beautiful pictures. Do you have others? By the way, it seems that its steering wheel changed several times: 2 spoke in the factory brochure. 3 spoke standard Nardi-like in the period articles. 3 spoke with squared holes nowadays. Another thing, do you know wether the car still keeps its original red cam covers? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very good observations! I sent a pm to you. I don't know whether the car still has the red cam covers.
