oui, Lini était journaliste de son état. ça doit faire bizzare de voir sa voiture rouler de la sorte 41 ans plus tôt.
Bruno, Krasnavian and Napolis, Yes, it was a long time ago, 41 years! And to be able to back, Amazing! Joyeaux Noel! Mes Amis! Au Revoir...Paolo
Hi Jim, Does 0846 #23 show up at the Rolex 24 at Daytona 2008 at the end of this month? Kind regards, Wouter Bekker
My glasses are as Rossa Corsa as most around here, but, you don't think the Chaparral pulled over past the bridge and offered Nino the chance? The rate he'd closed on the Hall car and left it behind suggest to me some difficulty with the Chaparral. Wonderful footage.
Hi Because of all the work we're doing I'm a little behind. She won't be completely done and ready for testing until spring so I'm hoping to bring her to the 24 of Daytona next year. We still are rebuilding her FI pump. Best
Fantastic! I can sure appreciate the benefit of gyro-stabilized cameras after watching the aerial footage!
Believe or not, there is a story telling that prior of the race start the driver Vaccarella told to the reporter on which part of the track would have overtaken the Chaparrall. That is why the helicopter did catch perfectly the macic moment. Maybe a legend ? Morcal
Those roads are really twisty and Nino does know them like no other. Remember the Chaparral had a autobox that wasn't it's best on really short courses and may have misjudged the previous corner and lost momentum. That is a race where you really have to stir the stick.
And what a pity that the P3's were converted in P4's. I like the beautifull body shape of the P3. It's really another car, with subtle differences...
Jim, Not sure if it was mentioned in the 50 pages of posts but is the guy who build the chassis for Piper known / alive? Wouldn't he be the one who could confirm that he did indeed source the chassis remains from a scrap yard? If it was covered in your document I missed it. You would think Ferrrari would be more behind you on this one and glad that one of their historic race cars survives. It really is an amazing story! Very glad that this automotive treasure ended up in the right hands...
Will you be showing this car or any of your others on the East Coast any time this year?? Would live to get to see this piece of automotive history in person.
Dear Mr.Neapolis, I would prefear to send you a PM, but was unable to make an attachment. I hope that nobody start again a "bla bla" about your wonderfull & respectfull work with the restoring of the#0846(and 002 too!). I wish to let you look to the colour of the thin strip around the nubers (23) compared with the original one.It seems to me too red, in the old pics is near orange instead. Obviously you pic is inside a garage and may be at the sun it react different. Excuse my for this query but I'm only a crazy modeler and the tiny tings catch my eyes. All the best! Alessandro ps may be one day we have a thread about the 002 restoration?I tink is a very important car Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alessandro, a lot of the work on 002c is documented in this thread. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44512 Cheers Simon
Hi You can't compare period photo's with modern digital ones for color. In the metal the paint is fluorescent orange. 0846 will be at Medowbrook in August. 002C at will likely be displayed at the Factory next year. Best
Very interesting article in FML about the history of the P 4's. "Chassis 0856, still as a 330 P4, was sold to England and remains the only origi- nal P4 in existence. It is now in the hands of a prominent North American collector. Chassis 0858 and 0860 were also sold off and had some further competition history in private hands. Eventually 0860 was con- verted back to P4 configuration and is in a collection in France and 0858 is coming up at auction next month. While Ferrari insists that 0846 was scrapped and is no more, a car exists with strong claims to be the resur- rection of that car."
Hi Mr.Neapolis, unfortunately I'll not able to see your car!I would try to see "her" in Sicily Targa Florio but the days don't overlap! May be the next year and the 002C when you visit to the factory! I make some experiment with Photoshop saturation and making the red the same in the pics, seems to gave an exact tint of gray for your numbers outline. Kodak was the best for red colours, may be the digital camera are not so close to the realty! Thanks again for sharing all wonderfull work made on this cars.I think the people that not agree was a little disturbed! Thank to you, we may too see and hear (the lucked men) again "them"and I think also Ferrari is smiling from somewhere to see again his "daugthers"running in the streets Image Unavailable, Please Login
