but can you pick your favourite sheep out from the crowd ? and don't say the one with the pretty face, they all look cute
As mentioned, Sunday was the NZFOC Auckland area's Christmas run/lunch. The day began for me with a 130km drive north to Auckland, perfectly clear skies and nice flowing traffic made the trip up an enjoyable start to what was to become a very memorable day. After a quick stop at a petrol station to top the tank up, and take a leak (me, not the car) I joined the first few members out side Continental Car Services. The crowd soon began to arrive and one of the members of staff at CCS kindly opened the showroom for us to browse, and for some to hide from the warm sun. The crowds kept coming and by 10 am we had most the the car parks within a km or so occupied mostly by Ferrari's, with the Lambo thrown in for good measure. It was around this time when I noticed the second of 2 246 Dino's turning up, this will be a special day I thought, then as I turned around I was greeted by the cheeky grin of an F40 coming down the hill, WOW was about all I could mumble as I fumbled around with my camera trying to capture the beast in motion. Then only a minute or so later I spotted a 512BB and a Scud coming up the hill, it was truely going to be a day of a life time for any passionate Ferrari enthusiast. We gathered in the entry to CCS for a style of drivers briefing only found on a Ferrari club fun run, with a small joke regarding the Lambo bringing up the rear, then we were off. North out of the city, through a couple of traffic lights and onto the motor way, taking the exit to the northwestern and out of town we headed. The group, as large as it was became spread out fairly quickly, I was lucky enough (read, timed it perfectly) to be following the F40 for the early stage of the journey, what a fantastic noise on overrun, crackle bang dose little justice to the symphony I was front row of. We continued out west through the suburbs and onto old north road, for those that are familiar with this area imagine 40+ Ferrari's, perfect weather and little traffic, it was pure bliss. We stopped for a quick regroup along the way which allowed for some photo opportunities then off we went again, further down the road we came across one of the many 1 way bridges, this one had a slight difference and had myself and the other keen photographer from the club scrambling out of our cars at high speed to catch what was unfolding, quite a sight. As we continued north towards our lunch destination the roads were flowing and the weather just out standing. Once we arrive at the lunch venue we were greeted by reserve parking to allow all the Ferrari's to park together, well as much as possible anyhow. We enjoyed great company and excellent food, it really was a fantastic day and an absolute credit to the people who organised it, they know who they are, and if you read this, my sincerely thank you. I will never forget this one. Now for the photo's, of which there are many.... Thanks Now I heard a story RE Dino rear bumper, not sure of the truth behind it but apparently it fell off on the motorway so the owner just decided it looked better this way...... After the 4 finish uploading click browse again and you can do another 4, I was able to do this when I was Silver sub also. Thanks Pap, you should fly over for next years event, the memories will last for ever brother. Imagine 40+ Ferrari's in a row, about as close to perfect as you can get I recon. Impressive is not my choice of words. Yep yep, it is New Zealand after all!!! Strangely enough it was an Aussie number, said ask for Rob? Broker?
Well, I did a 40+ Ferrari cruise in the USA last year. Up through the Malibu Canyons and all. That was AWESOME and scary too!! Also, I have never made it down to a cruise here in Australia, let alone fly to New Zealand for one!!
Thanks mate, but the rear wheels on are backwards and that 308 "roof spoiler" is gay!! Thanks again, but CLICK!
