Just read it in Auto Motor & Sport, usually well-informed magazine. The new Boxster will not only feature the good old 6 cylinder, but also a turbocharged 4 cyl engine, and a Diesel.

I might be in for a four boxster once the prices on a used one came down. The 550 its made as a retro car for was a four after all. :)

Maybe its a first hint that the reincarnated 356C is coming back someday soon?

I am not being totally facetious here - my first Porsche was an aircooled SOHC six, with 125 hp. It was an exciting car - as much so as the 427 Corvettes of it's 1969 day.

I say that if the S2000 can make a high-revving 2 litre exciting, then so can sports car master Porsche.

I can happily skip the Diesel, though - especially at the U.S. prices for fuel.

I remember reading the Boxer diesel engine is in a Subaru not a Porsche.
