In the last week I have been practically only watching this thread. GREEAAATTTT, I really love it
My interest is specially for the Spanish Ferraris and it is really sad that i did not see this thread earlier, could have met F. and Christian at the Martini Legends in Madrid....

However, my interest is specially in the spanish registered Ferraris, regarding the GTO´s, resuming only 4 are known:

54797 in Tenerefe with plate TF-4208-U
I have this car as first registered on the 12th of April 1985 (First registered GTO in Spain adn registered as 308 GTB!!)

56345 in Barcelona with plates B-078... F chat member F.
Never knew of the Existance, F. could you give us any history.., seems original spanish car

58141, many years in Madrid, now in Barcelona, plates M-1068-LJ
Ex-Quintano´s car, well known Ferrari collector (also owns 166 MM #0034M and 555 Supersqualo #FL9001) and before dealer. Saw this car a lot of times (round 2002) when it was displayed in the nowadays Lamborghini dealership in Madrid (Mr. Quintano involved?) Curious, the VIN plate on the steering column was removed....

unknown # in the Marbella collection with an Enzo and other beauties

And finally almost Spain, the Andorra car
    unknown #, Andorra registration 39493

Circa late 1988 to early 1989 there was a 288 GTO from the USA at Auto Sport (restoration/repair shop) in Bastiglia, just north of Modena, Italy being repaired after being crashed.
Does anyone know the VIN of this car?

    Paul

This car is reported as being Johnny Von Neuman's GTO complete with orange seat inserts.

However, Ive seen 53717 ascribed to a white 308 GTS QV in RHD spec bearing chassis number ZFFLA13C000053717. If it were a GTO it would be ZFFPA16B000053717, would it not?

Does the white 308 exist? Does Johnny Von Neuman's 288 GTO exist with this chassis number?

Experts, please help put this matter to rest. Inquiring minds wish to know...

    Dear Joe

I have the same "double-entry" for 53717 in my database. The white 308 was last described in New-Zealand. I have no history at all for the 288 GTO and only have it described as #52/272.

Caley I hope the info was useful and thanks for sharing the ownership chain.

BTW a nice GTO, chassis number 56343, ex-Jerry Moore, comes up at Gooding in Scottsdale January 16th.

Julien here are your images of the Cavallari/Monte Carlo car. Thanks for sharing with us all.

Finally got round to reading the December 2008 issue of Octane...

In it 288 GTO-designer Leonardo Fioravanti confirms our suspicions that the small curved windows designed to act as a cooling duct towards the engine bay are competition-inspired and owe their origins to the 512 BBLM.

Says Fioravanti: "I vented the rear side windows as Id done the 512 BB Le Mans car. They're curved in plan view creating a gap through which air is vented into the engine compartment".

He goes on to say: "It was my choice to add the three cooling outlets aft of the rear wheels. Theyre set at the same angle as those on the original car (250 GTO)..."

    Interesting.
