So correct me if I'm wrong, but they share the same 4.2 V8 (at least until the new QP with the 4.7 bla bla bla).
Yet the QP has a great snarl/shriek that the Coupe or Spyder just do not have, making them sound almost bland (even with aftermarket exhausts on both cars).

    Comparison
    QP with Tubis

    Coupe with Larini

What gives? Did something change significantly in the engine?

If someone can check under their QP and see if there is a seperate resonator or if resonation was accounted for in the muffler design that would explain the difference.

The QP in the video sounds very similar to mine when I had the tubi with no resonator. The GS model also did not have a resonator and with an aftermarket tubi, it sounds similar.

Maybe it's my computer but the both of these recordings sound like crap to me. I do remember hearing a 4200 with a tubi that sounded pretty good.

A quick look at the Eurospares site shows:
The QP has the pre cat and cat after the header.
(the 4200 has the Pre cat in the headers (US Version))
The QP does not have the "squashed" head pipe the 4200 has
The QP resonator looks to be much smaller.

So you are comparing the QP and Coupe sound that have two different aftermarket exhausts?

Do you disagree when I say QP and Coupe sound different?

Stock or aftermarket exhaust always yields the same result. The coupe never has the shriek the QP has. Hence my question.

you take 5 different aftermarket exhausts and you will get different sounds based on their design, that's why you can't compare like you are. compare stock to stock or same brand to each other.

    Fine. I'm a retard, I guess.

    They sound alike. Debate closed.

To me that "shriek" seems more prevalent with tubis: In this video, the silver GS and blue Spyder have aftermarket tubis - but even they sound different due to the midsection x-pipes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5Xb-qoHCKM

OEM Coupe/Spyders don't have tubi end boxes. Stock GranSports do. And I was once told that stock QP did also, but I can't confirm.
