I figured I'd start a thread. I'm not good enough to have a style, but there are a couple of styles I'd love to become good at. Brian Setzer has always been someone I loved to watch, that Rockabilly sound. I'd also like to play like some of the country greats. Right now I stick to basic blues-based fartin' around.

There is one lick in Lights Out that Mick Mars used in about 85% of all his Crue solos!

I grew up across the street from Muddy Waters' tour manager. In 1980 I got to see him perform from backstage and meet him afterwards. Definitely a moment to remember--still have the passes.

    Oh. I've got one..........

Years ago, there was a concert down at Anaheim Stadium that featured Boston, Black Sabbath and a couple other bands, to which my neighbor/buddy and I went. Later that night at home, I am cranking Boston in my room when I hear my mother shouting. "GET THE DOOR"! So I turned it down and walked by her lying on the living room couch and go over to the door. I opened the door and there was Sib and Brad from Boston standing there. I'm like, "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh". They say, "Where's the party?" I say, "F*CK, RIGHT HERE MAN!!" and they walk in. My mother jumps up and Brad says, "Wait a minute, this ain't Phil's house!".....

Turns out my new next door neighbor was Boston's business manager ( I didn't know) and he was throwing a post gig party. They started laughing and invited me to the party. I called Jon and he came back down. A couple of huge tour busses had parked on the street and people were now showing up. Needless to say it was a great party.

Phil also represented Tom Petty and I'd see him show up from time to time.

    ...another.....

I used to live in an apt over on the main channel of the marina. The apt manager was Eddy Offord!

(Eddy Offord was the producer of YES and ELP! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Offord)

He and his wife, Valma met at Woodstock. Great people, so cool. He always said that one day when he was done with his sailboat that they'd sail off in to the sunset. They did.

I play a lot of blues, but have a pretty extensive list of classic rock songs that I've learned over the years. Back in my high school days (10years ago) I learned much of both Phish and the Grateful Deads catalogs. I still love playing GD songs.

Billy Gibbons said I sounded like Noki Edwards on Acid. I took that as a compliment.

Maybe he was having some flashbacks from The Moving Sidewalks days.
