It is a metallic matte rust color, more orange than brown. Not exactly pretty, but not too bad either... Gimmie a sec and I'll take a pic of it next to a red 288 GTO... EDIT: PICS ADDED... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Roy for the heads up at Target... Found a couple new bronze GTO's today. Also scored the new Bat Mobile, new blue Austin Martin, new white GT-40 and the new '68 Nova....love those Nova's!
Hey Clint, I take it the Aston Martin is a Vantage? Light or dark blue? And the new GT? Could you maybe post some pics? Thanks! -Chris
Glad you found some... I saw the AM and the white GT-40, but decided to pass. Wish I'd seen the Nova though, I have taken to picking up the muscle cars when I find one I like - being a former Nova owner, they've got a special place in my heart.
Yes, it's the Vantage and it's dark blue. The new GT-40 is white with a red/blue stripe, blue windows and blue wheels. Pics will be posted soon. Wife's out with the dig today.
Cool! The Nova is one of my all-time favorite muscle cars...along with the Boss 302. what year Nova did you have?
I had a '76. 2-door, hatchback, 350... it was a fun car - too bad it wasn't a '69 or something, but still neat - and my grandma ordered the car new in 1976.
Sorry it took so long for the pics. In-laws are in town...went out for dinner. Anyways, here they are!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sweet! Thanks for the pics! The Vantage and Nova look great. Not to keen on the 288 and GT at all. The thing I don't understand is why not make the 288 in silver or black? I mean copper? And what about the GT? Why not red with white stripes? I just hate how unrealistic Hot Wheels has made their product-line over the years. You know what else I miss from back then? MicroMachines! -Chris
I'm with ya Chris. The GTO color is ok but it would have looked sooooo much better in silver or black. Hopefully those colors are coming. The GT is a bit different but thats why I got it. Probably be the only one I buy. I agree with you tho, HW really should stick more with traditional colors on certain models.
You mean like these? Does anyone collect these? I harvested the NSXs and Del Sols for my Hondamobilia collection and ended up with sets like this... The primary interest in this set is the Testarossa spider, McLaren F1 and Viper. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes! I used to have just about every play-set and MicroMachine ever made. When our basement flooded the box was thrown away. I would love a set of them again. Think MicroMachines need to hit the shelves again.. -Chris
Even though the New Color on the 288 GTO is rather disgusting, I will buy a few. s2ktaxi is the man! Thanks for the package. Received today. Cool! Thank You! When I go through my HWs, I will post pretty much everything that I don't want. It includes Muscle Cars, Exotics & Hot Rods.
Ok, Finally landed a F512M Treasure Hunt with the black base! Cost a hefty $30 shipped... but better than the one asking $200+. So, that's one down and still about a hundred more to go - though I only know of the following I need to get (loose mint preferred) to reduce cost since I'm likely to open them anyway. Ferrari 360 X-RAYCERS (yellow) - 2006 #111 Ferrari 308 (Racebait) (red w/308 GTB on hood) classic wheels Ferrari 308 (Racebait) (red) c5s wheels Ferrari 308 GTS (yellow) Ferrari 575 GTC (Red) c10s Ferrari 250 LM (yellow) w/chrome base Ferrari 250 LM (light Blue) w/FTE wheels Ferrari 575 GTC (red) Ferrari 308 (red w/tan interior) c5s wheels Ferrari 308 (brown w/black interior) c5s wheels Ferrari 512M (red #4) c5s wheels 250 TR met. Red/brown (Target Hot Wheels Then and Now set) Redline Ferrari 312 P in excellent to mint condition (anything but blue, red, purple) FAO Testarossa (black) w/gold wheels FAO 308 (black) w/gold wheels FAO 348 (black) w/gold wheels FAO 360 (silver) FAO 360 Spider (silver)
Congrats on the black base F512M!! Great price too! I got mine a few weeks ago from a trade. Took forever to find someone willing to trade for it. I'm in the process of trading for one of my other holy grails. The black '06 F430 Spider w/ black interior. I'll post pics when it arrives. For me, the black interior F430 Spider was harder to find than the black base F512!
one more to add to my list... the black F430spider with black interior that I didn't even know existed. How do you even find someone to trade with?
The trade boards on HWC usually lends me the best results simply due to how many HW collectors there are on that site...most of them love to trade! I also check TTP and ebay to see if the cars I'm interested in are for sale. If I find someone selling a car I'm interested in I message them and ask if they would be interested in trading. That has also lended me great results. I've found great info on variations from these sites... "South Texas Diecast", "HWC", "Fchat" and Dale's "Ferrari Diecast Club". Hope that helps.
I guess so. I usually can find treasure hunts or other HTF cars without too much trouble around my area and seems most will trade for those. However, sometimes those aren't enough so I have to get creative...like my trade for the black base F512M. I traded 1 super and 3 regular treasure hunts for the rare '67 Japan Camaro that came out a few months ago. I knew hunts probably wouldn't be enough to trade for the F512M but I figured the Japan Camaro might. So once I traded for the Japan Camaro I then put it up for trade and a couple weeks later I found someone that had the F512M who wanted the Japan Camaro. Trading takes a little more time but I think it's fun...and if the end result is me obtaining a Ferrari that I'm really psyched on and the other person getting what they're really psyched on, then that make it all worth it.
