I manufacture toys and collectibles and my normal graphic artist is up to her eyes in work already so I am looking for someone that might be interested in some overflow freelance work.

These are very simple packaging designs and the template is already created. I would supply product shots, legal info, text, logos, etc and just need someone to put it all together in a simple yet attractive fashion.

I would prefer a talented graphic design student or hobbyist as opposed to a working professional as this is a pretty simple gig and the pay will not be high.

You can see some of my products at www.myspace.com/popcultureshocktoys and below is an example of previous box art

    Jerry,

Just an oddball question from a guy who manufactures packaging for a living.

Why do you use the 1-2-3 style bottom on your packaging instead of a lock-bottom box? The 1-2-3 style runs the risk of having the product drop out the bottom, where as the lock bottom does not.

Just noticed it in your drawing and was curious.

Thats a good question Dave and I dont have a good answer other than its the way we've always done it and havent had any problems. Ultimately it doesnt matter because the box is within a double carton for protection (collectors want their boxes as mint as their statues) and they are not sold in stores so I dont have to worry about them being handled.

Also, Im terrible at remembering technical terms...which style is the lock bottom ?

Lock bottom has glued bottom flaps instead of tuck in flaps, when you open the carton, the bottom closes itself and locks into place.

Also called a tuck top auto bottom box.

    Here's a diagram.

    Hi.

Yes the project was completed a few weeks ago. Thanks for your interest.

When another one comes up I will probably post again on this thread.
