I have an intermittent problem, on occasions when I start my 550 she will 'run' only on what sounds like 6 cylinders, so I switch off wait 30 mins or so, and try again. Usually back on 12 cylinders and she runs beautifully as always. I can get a warning light on the dash that indicates tire pressure drop at the same time that she is a 6 cylinder car or not this is also intermittent. Has anyone else seen this? I have checked every connector I can find but no luck.
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Thanks.

If and when you think this is occurring - check the one side of the exhaust - one side would be pretty cold - this happened to me when I first got my 456 - had to change one of the ECUs (not cheap - but sourced one competitively) - worth also checking the wiring looms before doing so though.

    kindest regards Aamir

Whoops forgot to add - not good to drive it "fast or hard or for long when on 6 Cylinders apparently clogs up one side of the exhaust - not 100% sure of the causal effect but thought I better say than not. - best take it for a SD2 Diags.

    kindest regards Aamir

No, there are no warning lights just the occasional message stating 'low tire pressures', and the failure is always very intermittent. Nothing obvious

Peirs, forgot to mention - (on the 456) I never had the slow down light either. It just felt that you had a lack of power - or where stuck in a lower gear. Like I said dont drive it too long. Switching it off and on sometimes seemed to sort it out - until I got it too the workshop litterally a day or so later, as I did not want t to take a risk.

    kindest regards Aamir

Aamir, I never drive it when the low power issue is present, but quick question: was the problem for your 456 the ignition ECU, If so where did you find one?

Many thanks and Happy new year

Evo's long termer 550 maranello develloped a fairly similar fault, it was either running on one bank or the other. The fuel cut off solenoid developped a fault, a smal thing which cost £27 in parts. but £634 in labour.

Yup, all good. It is almost like the fuel has been cutoff but the fuel pressure is good, however I have not tested when it runs on only 6, as I have never caught the moment...

when evo's long termer broke down they could run it only either left or right bank, but not simaltaniously.
