    Took the kids out to run some errands last night, and as we were walking out of the neighborhood CVS, there was what appeared to be a blue 308 sitting in the parking lot. After my primary observation, recognition kicked in. Right as it hit me, my son said "What's wrong with that Ferrari, Dad?". I knew, but asked him why he was asking me. "It just doesn't look right. It's too high, it's too short. Something." He was right. It was a Mera. A pretty well done copy, complete with badges and wheel centers, but a Mera. It was an interesting conversation explaining why anyone would want to copy a Ferrari like that and "make it ugly" as he said. It honestly made me wish I'd been in my car, it would've been fun to see them side by side.

    I realized as I drove away that it must be the same car that caused some conversations a month ago at the gas station across the street from where we were. I stopped to buy gas, and realized my inspection was expired. The place was dead, so I asked if they could do the inspection. The guy asked if it was the real deal. When I looked at him a little strangely he explained that they did frequent work on a fake one and had never had a real one come in.

    This is more Ferrari-related than you may think...!

    Mera (see picture below) is Queen of Atlantis; the King of Atlantis is Aquaman; Aquaman was played by Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) in the fictional movie Aquaman, on the HBO series Entourage; in the latest season of Entourage, Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) drives an F430. It all comes full circle.

    The Mera is rather rare and collectible in its own right. If you can get around the idea that it was a blatant copy of a Ferrari to begin with. What was amazing to me was that it was available through Pontiac dealers!

    This reminds me of experiences with a couple of my boys. At about 4 years old one of them was starting to spell words out phonetically. We pulled up behind a Ford pickup at a stoplight and I noticed him staring intently at the tailgate. He sounded out F then O then R then D, and then he yelled out "Oh my god, it's an F40!"

    The other time was with another one of my kids and we were following a Pontiac Aztek. After staring intently for a couple of blocks, he looked at me and said "Dad, do you see that car?" I said "Yes, why" He said "Why did they do that?" I knew right then he would never make it on to the Pontiac design team.

    AND, that's what drove GM, literally, to the road of, and edge of extinction!!!

    It is there for History and Time, to JUDGE them, on how they made the most successful and largest corporation in the World, into a wreck and laughing stock, for the World to see. I hope it will remember....

    Wrong. Ari from entourage drove a f430 spider haha. License plate arisfrri. Which he wrecked on his first drive racing andrew davies in a black 911 cab haha. Just a detail ;)

    Last summer I was at the beach in Sarasota, FL with my daughter when a 308 pulled into the parking lot. My daughter and I were so excited "Ferrari!!!". But as your son observed, something was not right. Naturally he parked far away in the unused part of the lot to protect his Ferrari so by the time we walked over he was gone. At the time I had never heard of a Mera and I still do not know if this is one, although it is definitely a Fiero. How many 308 kits are out there? (Someone must have done one on a beetle). His windows were so dark that I could not see the interior but overall the car was pretty cheesy up close. Fake louvers etc.
