Sorry to you giving up, I've still having fun racing people online, still haven't raced any folks from FChat yet.
Learning curve is too steep for fun (for me). I have a couple of rug-rats and wife that cuts into play time. (Which OK, btw). I need something more arcade-ish to drop into and out of...
I played it for about 10 minutes the day it came out and put it right back down. Is it worth picking back up? I'm used to GT5 and Dirt and based on my experiences when i played it that day, i'm not rushing to play it again
Have you tried Grid, Dirt or Need For Speed? There are 4 NFS games on the next-gen platforms: all on the Xbox360, maybe at least 3 on PS3. NFS: Most Wanted, Carbon, ProStreet and Undercover Only the first two are worth buying, as the NFS games have been getting worse. Anyway, all the above are fun enough to jump into and out, or play the career mode over time, if you're up to it.
The NFS series has been canned (thank god) and Dirt 2 is coming out next year and i can't wait for that. I LOVE Dirt
Dirt 2 will be nice. I still play Dirt regularly. You can't beat it when using a force feed back wheel! It's especially fun to watch my 6-8 yr old nieces and nephews play. I've found F Challenge to be extremely hard to play with the wheel, though. Anybody else?
I don't like this game anymore, its really boring and nothing what I expected it to be. I hope there will be games in the future like the classic Need for Speed Games (Hot Pursuit 2), or Test Drive Unlimited. I don't even think the Downloadable Content will be available for North America . Just want to break the news to those who don't know yet, Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be available sometime next year. It has been in development for about a year and will feature more supercars, 5000miles of open road and realistic traffic. The location has not been released but there are rumors that L.A. might be the city. Happy Holidays Everyone!
Everyone's talking about how hard it is, and i'm getting 1st in every race... Did I get a bad copy of the game? LOVE the game, i think its better than GT5p!!! Mr-Kaputsky = online.
I was really frustrated with this game. I've been playing sim-racers since the late 80's (Indy 500 my first) and about gave up on this. I decided to plop down last night and be stubborn. I know most of these tracks like the back of my hand so I can't chalk it up to inexperience. I drove and drove and drove and finally unlocked the 348. Wow. What a difference. I don't know what the deal is , but the 430 handles like a pig in lipstick to me. If I turn off the aids it pushes like a snow plow on entry and snaps the rear out on exit without any rhyme or reason. My first reaction is that it's me not getting used to the throttle outta the turns (I played Grand Prix Legends for years, so I know the whole feathered throttle drill) but the more I tried the more it frustrated me. With aids on it felt like I was fighting the car the whole way around the track (it did handle a little better on entry but has a mind of its own on exit). So anywho, I get in the 348 to grab a change of pace and BAM! It all comes together. The 348 drives like a dream. Within two laps I'm 4 wheel drifting, hitting apexes, out braking opponents and pretty much destroying the field. So what the hell is the deal? Anyone else having this experience? I feel like I'm out driving the computer aids in the 430 but with them off the thing is squirrelsville. I'm hoping to unlock some of the other cars and get a feel for them, but if I have to do it in the 430 I'm in for a long haul. Anybody have any thoughts on how to make the 430 drive a little better?
Thanks. I have Dirt and some of the old NFS stuff for PC. I love Dirt. I have the Grid demo but haven't bought the game yet but will. Went back and tried to play FC again. Still think the cars handle like pigs and the feedback stinks. Oh well. NE1 want this cheap?! NE1? Someone save me before I trade it in to Gamestop and loose my shirt...
No it isn't: The XBox360 doesn't know how to do FFB, which is like 90% of the Challenge game. It'd be a waste on the XBox. PS: I love my XBox, but not for racing games.
Picked up a copy tonight at Fry's, marked down to $19.99... Will post again once I start turning some laps.. need to bring the wheel downstairs from the office and try it on something other than my game PC rig..
It depends on the track that you are racing at. Some places the 430 feels terrible with the assists turned on (Silverstone and Paul Ricard for example), turn them to around 2 or 3 like Speedysam said and the car does get much better. Especially the front end. On other tracks you'll want the aids on max (VIR, California speedway for example). One of the main weak points of the game is the lack of practice time and having to unlock the circuits before you race on them in challenge mode. You can't even make set up changes but you can change assists so you'll get an idea what's faster. Concentrate on unlocking all the tracks before you try the challenge mode.
Thanks for the heads up. I've been getting better with the 430 with no aids... Misano seems to be my "home" track... I keep gravitating to it. Silverstone is a bastard, but I'm attributing it to me only racing on it with F1 cars. My braking points and throttle cues are all screwed up. I'm becoming addicted to the game though. Once I got over my initial ham fistedness, I've started to really feel the car.
Silverstone isn't that bad. Run as little SC as possible. 1 or 2 and you'll be fine. Wait till you try Paul Ricard. I freaking hate the place. I love Mugello and Spa is great fun too. Have fun
