Well, you know who you are, and you know what you have to do. Fess up, tell the world, or at least the MAR...They need to know what I know DM
Okay, not sure if this is in reference to me or not, but since Dave helped me a lot this week with a car deal, I'm thinking it might be about me. I took the plunge and bought a second Ferrari. I know, sounds like a crazy bad idea, going into a major recession and all. But, in my defense, it was a 550 in my absolute favorite color combo (tdf blue with a tan interior). It was for sale up at Algar which is way closer to Dave than to me in Northern VA. I went there today (3 hour drive each way), test drove it, and bought it. Pics of the car are in this 550 section thread: - http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=138311099 The toughest part of the negotiation wasn't with the dealer - it was talking my wife into why we should own a second ferrari. That is a tough sale to make. There is no sane rationale for it. I owe a lot to Dave for making it happen. He went there on Wednesday and took a bunch of hi-res digital pictures that he emailed to me. Also my thanks goes to Bobert. He invited me over to his house and walked me through all the issues & features of a 550 using his red/tan one as the example.
Ron, Congrats!!!! Are they giving you the belt service??? You have been talking about this one for some time and the patients paid off!!! SWEEEEETTTT car!!! Your gonna love the torque!! Robert
Car is fuggin' gorgeous. If he didn't buy it, it could well have ended up in my garage. I had the go ahead from Mrs' dm_n_stuff. Here are the pix. Hi: Just got off the phone with Toggie! Congratulations! Wow did he get a great car! Just what he wanted and it sounds like it is absolutely sensational! Can't wait to see it! She sure is a beauty! Welcome to the 12 cylinder club! Bobert
Congrats. The 550 is a very special car that will quite frankly spoil you. Most other cars will pale in comparison and that doesnt exclude Ferrari's. They were a good car at 175k and they are a tremendous car at the current depreciated, economically forced prices we are seeing today. Enjoy the car and drive the heck out of it. Its not going to raise in value so dont treat it like a garage queen. The only way to fully appreciate this car is to drive it. The Torque, the sound with a Tubi or Capristo, the practicality ( by sports car standards) the 12 cylinder linear power curve is unbelievable. Dave helped you for one big reason. He REALLY wants one and enjoys watching you experience the satisfaction he wants for himself. Jon in Delaware
Major congrats!! I was tempted by that color combination on my 456 and I think it works even better on the 550. Many happy miles!
Incredible buy Toggie! You are my hero! will you adopt me? I think this was Toxic1's car from Ocean City, MD
Ahhh noooo!!! I was actually thinking about looking @ that car tomorrow. It looked gorgeous in the pics, is a great color combo, and they really weren't asking too much for it IIRC ($82K on the website). Congrats on the purchase!!!
Very nice car Ron, why have only one when you can have two???? Well done, Happy New Year to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Ron! That is a beauty, and I know how long you have wanted one. I am glad you were able to pull the trigger. When will you be picking it up? I say we arrange a unvailing get together / drive. Who's in?
Ron, Congrats on the purchase!!! Absolutely my favorite color. That should be fun with a V-12 under the hood Looks like someone is starting off the new year with a bang!
Congrats Ron. Now people will really think we are twins ! You didn't have to go to Algar, though. I would have sold you mine at twice the price...and it's celebrity owned. Mike
congratulations Ron! Now, when you want to bring both f cars to an event, no problem, I'll help you with the other one, no charge.
LOL. Yours is very similar, but it has navy blue carpeting, doesn't it? Note to self - never park right next to Mike's 550 - he keeps his car way too shiny for a side-by-side comparison.
Thanks to everyone else for all the kind words. After the test drive at Algar today, I parked the 550 in front of the showroom windows. After talking inside for about 20 minutes, a short snowstorm came by. The snow only fell for about half an hour - it was birght and sunny soon afterwards. So, I couldn't resist taking this pic out in the falling snow. (The golfball-sized hail in the pic is an optical illusion created by the camera's flash. Trust me, the snowflakes were coming down softly.) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Man oh man are you going to have some fun. I will never forget the first time driving a 550 and chirping rubber going from 3rd to 4th at a "go to jail" speed. (of course that was on a closed road with no one around) Drive it in good health.
congrats ron!! that color combo is gorgeous. 550's have become such an incredible bargain. Now you need a 550registry.com
Congratulations, toggie! Car looks great. Blu TdF/tan is a killer color combo for that car. Hope to see it in person sometime during the 09 driving season. Congratulations again. Scuderia NoVA
