I am FCA member & regular visitor to F-Chat and will be Allentown, PA in early February. I will be staying at the Quality Inn on Plaza Lane and am interested in suggestions for nice places to eat that are not too far from the hotel. Any other suggestions for things to do in the area after work would be appreciated too. Thank you for your advice.

Go to Mama Nina's in downtown Bethlehem. This is where we take our special guests from Italy for Le Belle Macchine d'Italia. Lots of garlic, try their Balsamic Glazed Calamari.

If you don't mind travelling a bit, come to the Promenades in Saucon Valley (15-20 mins from your hotel) and eat at Kome, the new Chinese restaurant or at Blue Tulip(?), the Thai place there. We also have a Pacifico's and Shula's steak place ($$$). We have a place called Melt too but its overpriced and the food is average. The Promenades also have a ton of stores and is a nice place to just walk around:

If you're in Bethlehem, and feel like something on the more expensive side, you can go to Blue. Its expensive but the food is divine.

PM me when you're gonna be around and maybe we can meet up. I live about 10 minutes from Allentown

If you're in the mood try Bellissimo Ritorante on Tillagman St in Allentown. I used to eat there alot when I lived in the Lehigh Valley. The pasta and sauce were always very very very good. The desserts were also very dangerous

Thank you for the recommendations. If there any others, I'd appreciate hearing about them as well.

    Hi Mark,

I live in Allentown, and the above recommendation for Kome in the promenade is a good one, was just there yesterday, as is the recommendation for Nina's in Bethlehem. Actually, any of those restaurants in historic Bethlehem: Nina's, the one in Donegal right down the street, the Bethlehem Brew Works, and even a Mexican place right there along with them (whose name I can't think of) are all really good. Morning drives in my 308 frequently end at one of these places in Bethlehem for lunch. They are all within walking distance of each other in the historic/Moravian district.
In Macungie, just a couple of minutes west of Allentown, is a place called Gio. Some of the most authentic Italian food I've had outside of Italy. The chef/owner trained in Sicily, and they even have an old fiat 500 out on the deck in the summers. PM if you want.

I'm sorry. Kome is Japanese and has a restaurant as well as a hibachi area. As of last night, i highly recommend the hibachi :)

Art, what time were you there last night?

I've heard good things about Gio

Hi Chris, we were there at maybe 7 or so ? Gio is good, just up the street from where I live (I said I was in A-town ... but really I'm in Macungie (Land of bears feeding, as the name means, so I'm told).

Haha. Thats when i was there. Dunno if you saw me or not. I was wearing dark grey cords and a blue and white striped shirt. I was with my family (parents, sister and grandmother) at the middle hibachi table on the left. Were you in the restaurant? Whats it like? I was thinking about heading down there for lunch sometime this week. I hear the lunch menu is very good.

I said i was in Allentown but i'm actually in Coopersburg so not far from you. Just over the mountain
