    Hello

Does anyone know of or have pictures of a very early 365 gt4 2+2 with six tailpipes?

Years ago I think I saw some pictures of a very early car that had six small tailpipes very similar to a 365 BB.

It is very common that they are replaced with four tailpipe exhaust and at this point I do not know of any with six pipes anymore.

    Please let me know

    Interesting,

I never heard of a 6 pipe setup for a 365 GT/4; I thought they were only on the 365 BB. Considering that the 365 GTC/4 had 4 pipes and has a similar drivetrain and chassis, I thought the exhaust followed suit.

    Regards,

    Art S.

OP is right and i've definitely seen pics also...but i've no idea where. i find that it looks a little 'delicate' though. i prefer the 400 rear lights/pipes.

Who are you and what are you speaking of?

I was born in Philadelphia and live in Florida?

I have been to Chicago only once in my life and it was for a layover of plane rides.

    please explain?

    Art!

You are correct. You are from Florida, not Chicago. My mistake. However, the scam part stands. Is that indeed you?

More thoughts on the six tail pipe question for 365 gt4 2+2 cars

Where they on early production cars? Or maybe just on a prototype?

Thank you all and your comments

I remember a Road&Track photo of the six pipe exhaust. Might have been a show car.

    Cheers,
    Paul

I, too, have seen the six tails but seem to be replaced w/4's---I don't know of anyone who carries the 6 tail replacement exhaust.

    An excerpt from http://www.qv500.com/ferrari365&400p2.php

A few distinctive visual changes were made to all 400's to help differentiate them from preceding GT4's. At the front, a small lip spoiler directed more cold air into the engine while the tail featured a pair of circular light clusters at each side, those triple exhaust outlet pipes being replaced by more familiar sets of two.

    blackdowndraft,

Ah, no, I'm not that good. I just remember seeing it in one of the old issues (like early 70's).

    Sorry,
    Paul

I checked three sources for evidence of a 6 tailpipe setup on the 365GT/4 2+2:

    1. Ferrari 4 Seaters by David Owen (Osprey Auto History) published in 1983
This shows a picture of the rear that looks like a factory brochure source and it shows 4 tailpipes.

    2. Ferrari 412 by Paolo Murani for Automobilia, published in 1986
The section on predecessors has no rear pictures but the text describes the rear of the 365GT/4 2+2 as having "four exhaust pipes were large-bore"

    3. Original Ferrari V-12 1965-1973 by Keith Bluemel published in 1999
The section on the 365GT/4 2+2 says "The exhaust system is similar in layout to that of the 365 GTC/4, although longer due to the increased wheelbase, with flanged manifold front connections to twin silencers and push-fit connections to the tailpipe assembly, which incorporates a further small silencer. Heat shields are fitted above and to the rear of the manifolds, with a pair of shields above each twin silencer assembly under the cabin."

The picture showing the rear of the car shows 4 tailpipes.

So the search for the elusive possible 6 tailpipe 365GT/4 2+2 continues!

    John

    John,

Thank you so much for your efforts and detailed ones at that!

Please continue your search & I look forward to the results

If it is of any help Im 100% positive I have seen a 365 gt/4 2+2 with six tailpipes, it was on the internet, the picture was either in black & white or maybe gray scale.

Also I can tell you the was either silver or a light metallic shade that would look silver in a B/W - gray scale photo. Additionaly it was a proffesional or high end amateur picture. Looks like early press phtos or a pic from a euro magazine

Boy, I can see it in my head I just wish I had a copy to share with you all!

    Many thanks again!
