Who gets the number 3 on their car next year? Massa had more points but Kimi is still a former World Champion. Anyone know who gets it?
I say Massa gets it based on last years performance...after all this is F1 baby..'what have you done for me lately?"
I can't break the association of Nos. 3/4 with Tyrrell all these years later. I prefer the old method, it was easier to identify drivers and teams when the nos. were static from year to year (ie Fez 27/28, March 15/16, Ligier 25/26, Lotus 11/12) outside of the WDC and teammate 1/2.
I understand but how would the teams agree on who ends up with each set of numbers? Who thinks Ferrari, McLaren or Renault would agree with being 17th and 18th? You can't draw out of a hat and end up with a Toyota like team drawing 1 and 2, the crying would be endless.
massa had his chance and missed it (thanks to idiot glock). i'd give the higher number to the only wdc winner currently driving for the team. kimi will be back next year just wait and see
I still can't believe people have this attitude towards Glock. If Massa hadn't screwed himself in the beginning of the season, and pulled the fuel hose down the pit lane (although not his fault directly) he wouldn't have been relying on Glock to keep Hamilton behind. Massa had a good season but relying on others to keep your opponents out of the points isn't what being a true champion is about, he & Ferrari made too many mistakes.
We're talking about the #3 on the car my question is who gets the #2. Massa ended the season in that position. Is it not the # that will go to Ferrari along with #3???
Teammate of world champion gets the two. So Massa got it last year as the Kimster was world champ. Heikki will get it this year as Lewis won the world championship. If the world champion retires or does not compete the next season, the winning driver's team uses a zero and two. Also despite moving from Renault to McLaren, Alonso kept the number one as he was reigning world champ.
So am i right in saying that if Michael had won the championship in 2006 then, Massa who then at the start of the 2007 season as Ferrari's number 1 driver, would of got 0 rather than 3?
It's not up to the team to decide where the numbers fall, Massa's number wouldn't have been an issue if his team mate won the previous season. He would have had the same number no matter what.
Well 1/2 would deservingly go to the previous WDC as it always has. From 3 through 22 I don't believe teams would care about. For nostalgic reasons I wouldn't mind seeing 27/28 for Team F. those years they haven't won the championship (Bernie would probably love the idea to fluff up the grid appearance). I don't believe the car's number should reflect the season they last had. If anything, the stalwarts should get lower numbers for their ability to cope with the circus year in year out.
