Is it me or am I just feeling guilty these days. Took the opportunity of a rare break in the winter weather to drive the F Car over the weekend. Washed it earlier in the day, took it out on a date and parked it outside on the curb near a nice restaurant in the vicinity of Washington, D.C. Nothing but stares when I got out of the car. Not ones of admiration, but ones of disgust. When I came out from dinner I noticed the some one had spit all over the hood and front window of the car. Had frozen solid due to the cold weather. In these times is the reign of the hardworking capitalist who likes to enjoy the fruits of his labor really over????

it sucks to come back and discover that on your car..its more likely just young haters jealous that you actually can go out and enjoy life!..back in the mid 80's in the parking lot while attending a friends concert at the Roxy on Sunset i had someone scratch the N-word into the hood of my Dino!!i even left it like that for a few weeks before i had it repaired just for the heck of it!that was the only time ive ever had something like that happen!

They'll never be any shortage of people who want you to feel guilty for just about anything/everything.

Drive it with what you most likely already really feel....pride and gratitude! ;)

If you want to drive your F car, enjoy it and don't let other people make you feel any different.

    No.

I worked hard for the Fcar. And waited until I could pay for it without borrowing.

And right now there is too much snow to take it out of the garage...wish I could. Skiing is the second best choice. Life is good. ;)

Sad but true my Dutch friend warned me when I bought my Ferrari and I live in a small town.

    “Small minds”

Told me I would see resentment he was right .

To top it off when I just sold the car and transport arrived to pick it up talk around town was I bought another Ferrari !

Piss on them…….. I like nice iron work 24/7 but one must put up with some resentment.

On the other hand, wife and I were out the other day in our MB CLS-500 and a kid gave us thumbs up at the gas station “go finger”

I rarely care what other people think. I drive my cars. If they get damaged, I fix them, and keep driving...

One time I was coming out of a restaurant, and a father, pointing to my F-car, said to his young 10-12 year old son, "See -- If you work very hard, you will be able to afford a car that nice".

At that moment, I completely agreed with the way that Father was bringing up his Son...

No! I don't feel guilty. I haven't taken advantage of anyone to get these toys so I have no reason to feel guilty. We have worked hard, saved and paid cash!

My guilt comes from not driving it enough .. especially with the unseasonablely dry, warmish weather these days. It was meant to be driven not stored in my garage.

Not the least bit. It's my car and I earned it. The country could go to hell in a hand basket and I'll still be driving my cars. :).

I now own an Enzo and a 599. Everywhere I go I get positive feedback. I come from a lower middle class family and with education (two law degrees) and hard work I realized my car dreams. Nobody can take this feeling away from me. I take my cars out every chance I get and go everywhere there is a safe place to park them. I am a big showoff and it puts a smile on my face when someone comes up to me to ask me questions about the car....education plus working hard equals success...and for me that means owning a ferrari.

I have worked very hard for my cars. I don't feek guilty. In enjoy the cars and in the UK I have only experienced positive vibes from the public. However, when I drove Porsches, it was another story. I guess a red Ferrari puts a smile on most people's faces. I know it does for me.

A Ferrari in winter is like white shoes after Labor Day -- it's out of season. ;)

Really: In summer, around xtal city, the ricer gets more hostility than the Ferrari. But seeing a Ferrari in winter really annoys people, here.
(You're allowed toys, but only in summer.)

Besides: It's Washington. Everyone is supposed to feel guilty all the time. Just for existing.
And you're really expected to feel guilty about exceeding a declining "average".
Failure is normal. Success frightens and infuriates people, here.
(I see that in the office, too.)
In DC, "egalitarianism" means hiding in the middle of the herd.

    Thoughts for the DC area:

When we said, "get a life", we meant, "one of your own". Don't try to take away everyone else's.

Those trying to drag others down to their level are starting from the premise that they're beneath everyone else.
    That's their problem, not yours.

I have a customer that was driving his new CS over the weekend and he told me a similar story. A person followed him to his office and he got out of the car this person yelled profandies at him for being a rich P***k and what not..

I told him like has been posted it's about the work he done to earn this car. He said it's more then that, everyday people just see a $100k car and thats it, they have no clue about the passion of this car and the history. He said for him it's more about the owning somthing that is part of somthing much bigger and the price of the car had little to no effect on his love of this car.

I was struck really, here was a guy that was just called all kinds of names, and he could have thrown names right back, claiming its his car he earned through hard work what have they done in there lifes...but nope, he choose to take the passion road. Like he said owning a Fcar is being apart of somthing much bigger. Its the passion, the experince and the feeling!

Not that this would justify the aggressors response but did your customer cut him off or anything? Seems odd for someone to just randomly pursue someone to tell them off about a car they drive.

Thats what I thought, so I asked him...he told me that he stayed in his lane not slide on ice and maintained the speed limit for safe driving in South Dakota in this weather...That part of the state being more of a tourist area, the region has been effected more then this side of the state.

One of my best business relation died last year of brain cancer.
He got the diagnostic 2 months after buying is dream boat. Man what a machine!
So please enjoy life to the fullest, don't get abrasive with your toys and enjoy talking to people who wants to share their passion for the F-brand.
And all the other f*ck*rs that once in a while annoy you; well let them pass you by and continue with your happy life. And don't wipe that stupid smile every time your hear that fantastic sound!
Like Paul Mccartney said: "To live and let die".

I learned about this kind of mindless resentment when I was 20. I had a 1960 Corvette. An older cousin (30) started on me. I had worked very hard to get that car but, I let him babble on about it. Later, I laughed to myself. The jerk drove a new Sedan DeVille. Now, even laughing at fellows like that is too much like work.
